CAN POLITICIANS SAVE THE PLANET?

Election Forum:

Frank Simpkins covers the inability of politicians to solve any of the serious issues we face due to the constraints of capitalism. Are politicians able to change the economy, or does the economy change politicians?

Vincent Otter talks about the profit system's inevitable cycle of boom and bust and the 'credit crunch's' most recent demonstration of the crisis of capital. How does this affect politician's attempts to save our environment?

Glenn Morris considers the causes and consequences of global warming. Are politicians powerless in the face on impending catastrophe?

Danny Lambert describes the monstrous inefficiency of capitalism and investigates how we are conditioned to accept a false identity that makes us willing wage slaves who think we deserve no better.

Glenn Morris [one of the panellists] is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and has
participated in over twenty expeditions to the Arctic.

He has spent many months living and travelling with the Inuit peoples
of N.W. Greenland and Arctic Canada. He was the leader of the Arctic
Voice Expedition (www.arcticvoice (http://www.arcticvoice/). org) and has seen, first hand, the
changes that are occurring in these regions due to man's activities.
Glenn has interviewed many scientists and Inuit people as part of the
Arctic Voice Project which has given him an insight into the lives of
people who are at the forefront of the problems that, in time will
become our problems.

Having now had time to reflect on past travels and the damage that is
being sustained in the Arctic regions; Glenn is of the firm belief
that these problems will not be solved within the present society and
that if humanity fails in the near future to organise itself to bring
about a World change then our current system will destroy itself and
the majority of living organisms on the planet, including human
beings.
