I'm looking for a good socialist analysis of Nordic 'socialism' -- how it came to be, is it reproducable in every country, a critique of it etc.
I'm also interested in what people around here think about it.
What do you say when a social-democrat tells you "Communism has never worked, social-democracy works with wonderful results in Scandinavia. Instead of day dreaming we need to practical and reproduce that model everywhere."?

You tell him that communism really hasn't existed anywhere before. When he points out the USSR, Cuba, China, and North Korea, you then explain that real communism is stateless, not money exists, the workers control the economy by themselves, etc. Also, point out that there is still class antagonisms in a social democrat society, and while it is better than capitalism, it is still subject to the same problems of capitalism, because it IS capitalism, just with a prettier face. Utimately, it's doomed to fail.

social democracy is not a model of socialism, it's a model of capitalism that is only a small improvement. it doesn't remove exploitation of the worker's by the capitalists. we shouldn't accept it as good enough because it isn't

Actually, we have a thread on this already. From what I've seen, most comrades here consider Scandinavian 'socialism' to be anything but:

Daniel Ankarloo gave a good speech on the subject named '“Swedish ‘Socialism’ – Not what it used to be, but then again it never was." It can be accessed here (http://marxisthumanistinitiative.org/2009/11/19/audio-nov-4-talk-on-swedish-socialism/).
