Greetings everyone.

I am a young Communist -- I prefer not to classify myself as any particular type of Communism, but I admire Tito, Marx, Lenin, and Mao's guerrilla strategies... I pretty much hate any form of Communism that advocates excessive force and oppression (hence my relating to Anarcho-Communists/Leftists).... I'm probably more on the Trotsky side than the Stalin side.... I like to think of myself as a mixture of traditional Marxism with a system of progression into Communism similar to what Lenin did and a Communist system similar to what Marshall Tito had (which was independent from both Mao and the USSR).

I reside in USA, but am originally from West Bengal (proudly leftist for 30+ years!). I was born in USA however, and have lived my entire life in USA.

Welcome :)

Many of us will disagree with you on that point, though.

Indeed, I agree that West Bengal's leadership has left true Communism.... But not much can be done as West Bengal is a region versus a nation, and the CPI has limited power beyond West Bengal, surrounding states and Kerala.... However, Right-winged government barely thrives in West Bengal, and all the ruling parties of West Bengal consider themselves as Leftist at the very least.

The point is that the ruling parties of West Bengal are leftist only in words, and have acted like most extreme rightist parties ever since they came to power.

I agree that they only claim to be Communist, however I'm not sure how they are extreme rightists. I have been to Kolkatta on several occasions. I think what you mean is that Capitalism is very "alive" there so to speak. I'm not sure whether CPI is to blame here or the lack of power. You see, CPI is a regional power, so at most, a couple of Socialist policies. In fact, many Communists in India are against the formation of these large Imperialist companies from forming offices in Kolkatta, but little can be done....

If by extreme rightist you mean racist, xenophobic, and fascist, then it makes no sense. If anyone wanted extreme nationalism and capitalism, they would vote for the BJP party (Hindu nationalists) versus the Communist Party. As far as I know, my relatives are actually Leftist and support the CPI, but many hardcore leftists have criticized the CPI for not doing enough to implement their doctrine. However, to be truly Communist, West Bengal would have to separate from India and form a state of its own. The people who think that way are the Naxalite guerrillas, who really have been failing in terms of actual guerrilla warfare. The truth is that while the CPI has implemented very few Socialist policies, if anyone wanted a party that was in true nature rightist, they would vote for the BJP, or the various centrist parties that are popular in India, and not the largely leftist CPI.

Extreme rightist means those liquidate basic workers' rights in practice. In this category, the parliamentary left of India top the list.

About Naxalites failing in guerrilla warfare, you must have gone through few of the threads in India by now. :)
