I showed my brother this article http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/mar/31/barack-obama-drilling-offshore-approves

It is about Obama approving offshore drilling, yet he still claims that Obama cares about the environment and is stubbornly saying thats got nothing to do with it. How could I prove him wrong with logical facts about oil drilling and the effects of this on the environment.

How about Obama's own words on offshore drilling from when he was a candidate? Obama went to Florida at the time Bush removed the ban and spoke on the issue. A little Googling should turn up his speech.

Thanks but it's no so much the fact he doesn't believe he's doing the offshore drilling but rather the fact he says the offshore drilling doesn't mean he is anti-environment. As a vegetarian he should know about oil spills and their consequences for underwater wildlife but he doesn't seem too bothered about anything other than stubbornly supporting Obama in this debate.

This is the Sierra Club's response to Obama's decision.

There are certainly enough studies and articles out there on the damaging effects of offshore drilling and exploration. Aside from the basic research studies, one can look at the effects off the Gulf Coast of the U.S. -- especially after Hurricane Katrina -- and Alaska to see what can happen.
