It was coming for a while but they have been head and shoulders above the rest of the league and so Newcastle as quite deservedly up. West Brom (despite just scraping a draw today) will easily get second which begs the question who else is going up? A month or two ago it would have been Forest no doubt but their form has been dropping a lot, that being said the others up there aren't really that promising although I think Cardiff can play alright football sometimes. I'm guessing though it will still be Forest.

However (as a Palace fan) I'm much more interested at the bottom of the league. If we hadn't won today I'd have said that would be us gone but as it happened we had a fantastic result against Preston and all the others results went our way lifting us out of the drop zone. QPR and S****horpe are definitely back in it which means it could be any of five teams (Peterborough are already relegated). I'm sure I'm biased but I think if we play like we did today and with the fans (which I'm even more biased about but have been amazing all season, I'll post some videos if anyone cares) fully behind the team we can well save ourselves. We have QPR and Wednesday still to play which will be absolutely vital games but I think they are definitely ones we can win. I'd say numerically Plymouth have the highest mountain to climb (and West Brom & Newcastle to play) so I can't see them getting out of it. Other than that I just don't really know it could go any way. It's definitely one to be watching.

As always seemed likely the relegation battle has gone to the last game of the season. Crystal Palace away at Sheffield Wednesday, if Palace win or draw we are safe, if Wednesday win they are. I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep this week at all.

I think Cardiff might edge it in the playoffs to be honest, Forest have really slipped from when they were on fire at the beginning of the season and Cardiff have looked very good going forward at points.
I would say that that both West Brom and Newcastle are very good teams and I expect them to have a strong chance of staying up next season, I can't say the same of whoever else goes up.

I've never really been one for sports, but my house mate is, so I've been semi-passively following. And so, the biggest up for the championship is that next season Leeds will be in it :thumbup1:

From those better informed than I, what do you think are their chances of doing well there?

I'm a Forest fan, very disappointed but not overly surprised. Good luck to Blackpool in the Prem, they will need it.

Would have preferred Cardiff, but this may be a blessing in disguise, given the economic challenges promotion presents.

By the way, if you're not already, you al need to read The Political Economy of Football (www.footballeconomy.com).
