REVLEFT.COM difficulty yet? I have found in their forum, they are donations. Is due to spending more and more larger. I would like to ask the comrades here. Why can we not help them? Money is needed for each of us, as long as it is for the revolutionary cause, are possible. I long ago suggested that they come to China Shanghai World Expo sales of books and Che Guevara shirt. Perhaps, you can raise to a lot of money. But no one seems to agree with my point of view. I always think that the spirit of Che Guevara the symbol and means of marketing to young people through the market, is an effective means of education. Why are we not?

REVLEFT.COM遇到困难了吗?

Because selling Che shirts makes us capitalist, and the shirts are made by sweatshop workers

Lets turn a much loved revolutionary leader into a useless consumer product and in doing this kill his revolutionary message.
That a pretty bad idea in my books comrade

Well, this is only true if one think that the extent of Che's "revolutionary message" was 'don't buy t-shirts'.

The obverse of the capitalist commodification of Che is the petty-bourgeois radical who complains about 'consumerism'.

I think that the proliferation of Che's image is neither a good or a bad thing. I think if the proliferation of that image serves to introduce people to radical ideas or create interest in Che's life, it is a good thing.

Your in the SWP, you would not care if someone wrote a book on che being a pedophile and serial killer
Or do you trotskyites still say che had a book on permanent revolution on him when he was captured thus making him a idealistic trot tut tut tut (shakes head)

I know what you mean but che has already been commodified long ago. I think its alright for revolutionary organisations to use his iconic image if its to further the revolution... by educating people of who che really was, those shirts cease to be 'useless consumer products' and become revolutionary propaganda.

Why are we not?I don't think RevLeft has anyone who could go to Shanghai World Expo. But I agree with your general idea, that revolutionary organisations should make more use of popular culture and fashion such as Che Guevara, as a way to reach the people, especially the youth.
