According to the North Korean daily Rodong Sinmun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodong_Sinmun) (Worker's Newspaper), the leadership was fighting a guerrilla war (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guerrilla_war) against the possible incursion of capitalism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalism) into the sphere of personal appearance. Along with long hair, untidy shoes were identified as the epitome of Western culture which, by imitation, would lead the country to ruin.[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let%27s_trim_our_hair_in_accordance_with_the_socia list_lifestyle#cite_note-6)Wikipage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let%27s_trim_our_hair_in_accordance_with_the_socia list_lifestyle)

So, what is your opinion? And what's your personal "socialist" style btw ?

2 back and sides = the correct socialist haircut

My socialist style:

An Ushanka when it's cold
A Mao hat (solid black, no markings) when it's temperate
A Panama hat (from the Soviet-Afghan war) when it's sunny/hot

When I'm wearing a suit/shirt & tie, I also wear a hammer and sickle tie tack.

We should gel our hair into a big hammer and sickle sticking out of the top of our head

Mohawks and liberty spikes fit the left-anarchist hair style.

As for the socialist hair style? rather conservative and not very exciting. but what makes Socialist hair styles the best is that there exist a more flamboyant, aesthetic, and advanced hat culture that overcomes the boringness of a socialist's hair as exemplified here:

Just like me comrade!
I wear a swedish ushanka when its cold.
A green Mao hat with or without red star when its hot
and a boater straw hat when its sunny.

I never heard of a black mao hat.

That's what my panama hat looks like, but mine is white (I figured it'd be the best for reflecting sunlight).

And when I said "black mao hat," I probably should have said "mao-style" or something. It's a Mao-style hat I bought at Target.

The Native Americans *HATE* the "Mohawk", it has nothing to do with the Mohawks.

People who have the Mohawk style should be officially classified as reactionary punks.

I don't wear hats much. (Mainly cause I have a big head and most hats look odd atop my head) But when I do, I wear either a fedora or a beret.

How is a hairstyle reactionary? Not having the hairstyle we want is restricting our freedom.

Hitler's Mustache was ractionary, Benny's Baldness and clean shaven-ness was reactionary, and the icing on the cake is Louis XIV's hideous perm.

I used to rock the 'hawk. I liked having it "horse mane" style cuz I hate styling products.

But now it's all shaggy and skater-boiii like cuz I'm too lazy to get it trimmed. Send me off to the gulags!

dreads are more of a cultural thing. but they are permissable because they are not of the liberal-bourgeois culture like the mohawk or the long hair.

These days, dreads are more an indication that you're a stinky hippie than long hair is. At least if you're a white person.

My hair's relatively nondescript. Short, part left to right. But I do have longish sideburns, at least in terms of how far down my face they go (straight ones, not the white trash curved to a point ones) and a royale (think goatee or Van Dyke minus the mustache).

Although, I never leave the house without my trusty black Kangol Tropic 504 Ventair. Suffice to say my personal style is quasi-urban/hip-hop.

That's a lot of people. That hair style is coming back in a serious way, especially where I come from. There's actually a popular local salon/barber shop chain that specializes in $15 Mohawks.

I totally agree with you though. It's an offensive term. Ugly in my opinion too, but that doesn't really matter.

My hair has been long for about ten or twelve years now. I think about cutting it every once in a while, but I don't think I'll have the guts or motivation to do it any time soon.

As far as a socialist cut goes, I'd say that hair styles are really just cultural things, though some factions of socialists do tend to have fraternal traditions that can include acting as a clique. Not gonna throw any names out there...

9mm all over with the the naked buzzer for the edges and shaving. I don't like the scruff, but hey, fixing it up every few days with a full-on haircut once a week in my own bathroom by myself is hygenc and cheap. My Italian genes are strong in the "oily" skin and hair department.

PS: Oily and Mediterranean are euphemisms for greasy. The rest of them are in denial. I just accept it.

Being like 75% Italian, I sympathize. I have to wash my hair everyday, and it is still greasy. It truly is a wonder I don't have terrible acne because my skin is just as bad.
