I've been listening to the new Eluveitie album, As It Never Was..., and it is pretty fucking epic. For all you Metal-reds out there, if you haven't heard it yet you should. If you have, post some comments on what youu think. I do music reviewing for a newspaper so I plan on doing a review of this one. Just interested to hear your thoughts. This is my favorite song from the album.

happend to see them a few weeks back when they where playing at paganfest at my work. I had to do stage secuirity and i must say i was plesaently suprised, finaly a folk metal band that actualy manages to combine the two in a nice way. they made fintroll (the headliner) very pale in comparison.

I am a huge viking metal fan, but I agree, Eluveitie takes the privilege of actually being called "folk-metal" because they really do combine typical folk instruments and music with heavy metal. Bands like Ensiferum and Agalloch are really great, but thats more just Death Metal with folk-like themes. One also has to take into account (at least in terms of Scandinavia) its kind of hard to avoid folk elements in today's metal scene.

dont know, i'm more the trash and hardcore metal kinda guy, not much folk going around there .
anyway, yeah this was true folkmetal and pretty good at that too, all the other bands at paganfest sucked balls, from to borderline nazi (arkona) to just musical louzy (fintroll). only other fun bands was AleStorm just because of their tong in cheek punky attitude.

Aw, I love Arkona I wouldn't say they're borderline Nazi, but they do use some edgy symbols. I'm more of a Gothenberg Sound guy so I have a bit of a bias when analyzing the current music scene
