Tim Bradley tells WJBF News Channel 6 that the rally will now be held in Gloverville, SC, on Pine Street at 2:00 p.m.
Clearwater, SCTim Bradley, South Carolina Grand Dragon: Were going to hold it, with or without a permit, because thats within our civil rights.
Tim Bradley is the grand dragon, or leader, of South Carolinas KKK. Wednesday, he and his group posted these signs along Jefferson Davis Highway, in Aiken County, announcing a rally at Harrison-Caver Park in Clearwater, this Saturday, but theres a problem
Pastor Mark Canipe, Heights Church: We have rented the park out for the whole day, to bless the community, everythings free.
Pastor Mark Canipe, of Heights Church, in Clearwater, says way before the KKK stepped in, they booked the park back in November for a 30,000 egg drop, as part of their community spring carnival.
Pastor Canipe: Theyre welcome to come, too, as long as they abide by what were doing, well feed them a hot dog, or a funnel cake.
But Bradley says the sign out front says the carnival is over at 1:00 p.m., and he was told, since its a county park, anyone from the public can use it. While Pastor Canipe says thats not true, at all, Bradley says hell be there.
Bradley: Were just going to have a little march, do a speech for about 30 or 45 minutes and then leave, and thats it.
Pastor Canipe: We see it as an opportunity. We love people, we love blacks, hispanics, whites, we love the Klan. We dont support their views, but we love them because, evidently, theyre in need of Christ.
The KKK has already been denied a permit to shut down Highway 421, the street in front of the park, so they say theyll march down the sidewalk instead.
Bradley: I know the police will be there, because theyre always there at every rally that we hold, which that doesnt bother us.
Pastor Canipe: We live in an evil world, an evil time, and peoples going to do what peoples going to do. But, we have the county sheriff is involved, hell be taking care of all of that. My people will not confront themthere wont be any problems on our side.
We can only wait and see what the outcome will be this Easter weekend. But ,there is one thing Pastor Mark says he knows for sure, whether the KKK is there or not
Pastor Canipe: The only cross were celebrating this weekend is the cross of Jesus Christ and his resurrection.
Officials with the Aiken County Sheriffs Office say theyre not going to make a comment, at this time, but they are aware that the Klan plans on being at the park on Saturday.
