Obama liked to talk about fighting climate change but all he cares about is drilling for more oil instead of developing alternative fuels. Even Bush acted like he cared about climate change and he did nothing and I don't expect Obama to do anything either. The difference is, Obama is beloved by numerous progressives and environmentalists (!) who see him as something more than he is. They had no illusions about Bush.

The US president is nothing more than a puppet of the oil companies, be they donkey or elephant.

I thought that was common knowledge?

Obama is Clinton II.

Obama is enacting little tidbits of some his over stated campaign promises. A watered down reform health bill here, reducing corporate contracts in Homeland Security and the Wars, a sprinkle of EPA regulation enforcement, a little bit of financial reform. But it's all small potatoes that will appease both his zombie-like apologetic base and the corporate class.

Nader was right, he's an Uncle Tom.

If anyone has added that twit Sarah Palin on Facebook you'll see that she's having a little rant about Obama approving oil drilling, as if she wasn't an advocate of drilling in the first place.

The dishonesty and sheer opportunism of some people really make me disgusted - more so than usual in her case.

Not that I have any illusions with the current president, or anyone who takes the office for that matter.

Barack PalinBarack O'Palin sounds cooler.

Barack O'Palin sounds cooler.Strangely enough she criticized him from the Right on this too! She said it was some kind of scam to pass environmental laws. It gives us good ammunition against liberal arguments in favor of "triangulation" or "bi-partisanship" as political “realism” – the further to the right Obama goes, the conservatives will just move that much further to the right. It’s the same with healthcare – the Republicans were being obstructionist towards a plan that was originally the Republican alternative to a single-payer system.

It's so socialist to give handouts to mega-rich industries like health insurance and petroleum.

He may be trying to appease Republicans (most of whom are anti-environment) in advance.
Big mistake. Won't work. These people are much too bull-headed.

Yeah, when the taxpayer money goes "upward" (bank bailouts) they have no problem, but low and behold,
when money goes "downward" (unemployment compensation) they kick and scream like two-year-olds...

Right. According to them it's only class-warfare when our side tries to fight back.

In case people haven't noticed, American politicians are usually full of shit and spout nothing but nice sounding hot air all the while raking up million of dollars in campaign contributions.

Paris Hilton suggested this solution back in her 2008 campaign ad. Do McCain's drilling till Obama's green tech could kick in.

Brilliant, take advice from a woman who probably can't even name the capital of France. (pun intended)

If this move surprises anyone then you have a lot to learn about US politics, I was expecting things such as this. As a person who enjoys the NJ shore I guess I'll have new things to look at while on the beach. :(
