The Oppressed is the best band on there.

Isn't this supposed to be a forum for political events?
And I don't recognize any of those bands. I'll look some of them up, which ones are good?

Well its a not for profit benefit, donating its money to important course (usually with a political nature) that is put on my some of the most serious and millitant activists and organisers in the punk scene. It's clearly not just a piss up.

As for the bands... there should be links to their myspace pages HERE (http://www.myspace.com/scumfest) as much as I hate myspace its a useful tool for checking out bands. Mostly heavy and loud. I recon that The Oppressed have the broadest appeal though?

Mmmh...I don't get what's anarchist about this punk fest...Apart from some anti fascist groups, most I see are apolitical..and there is still a ticket price/doors, unlike anarchist fests...Im' not saying that the event doesn't look tasty or that it is boycott worthy but it pisses me a bit to give it a political adjective it does not stand up to...PS It's fun seeing Slavebreed there, they usually play in metal colabs here, never seen them in a punk concert...

See the bottom of this page (http://www.scumfest.org/wordpress/?page_id=2): it's a fundraiser for 56a infoshop (http://www.56a.org.uk/), LGBT asylum seekers, and Gender L'viv (some kind of Polish and Ukranian anarcha-feminist group, I think, tho I can't find much English info on them). I'd say charging on the door to raise funds for projects like infoshops and social centres is at least as anarchist, if not more so, than just having free events.

Just a little bumo back to the top so people intrested in this fest can see it. If your not, well you don't have to come and its purpose has been clearly explained so I recon its relevant here.

I might be going to that. I've never seen The Oppressed live before.
