How do you make red and black flags?

I love watching protest videos from Europe and around the world with people who are sporting huge red and black flags! I want to make my own but not really sure how to go about it. I don't know if I just want to throw some bed sheets or shitty fabric together. I want it to be good. Does anyone recommend a certain type of fabric that is really good for flags?

The rest seems straightforward. Get two pieces of fabric and sew them together!

I can't wait to rock out a red and black flag at a counter tea party rally.

Canvas is the most durrable option usually. Also, dental floss or fishing line usually holds up better than regular thread.

Buy two large rectangles of cloth, one red, one black. Cut them in half diagnally and sew one red half to a black half. Or if you're lazy, buy a red rectangle of cloth and paint one half it black or buy a black rectangle of cloth and paint half of it red.

The second method will probably look a bit shit unless you give it a good coat. I dare say theres dot coms that will make you a tailor made flag if you are willing to pay for it.

Canvas is the most durrable option usually.
Canvas is very heavy (and i dare say a headache to clean). Cotton flags will fly better in the wind.

I recently made 26 red and black flags.

The small ones were easy. I got a red bed sheet and a black bed sheed, cut it into 4 rectangles then each of those into 3 squares. Cut diagnaly the sewed them together and sewed in a seam for a pole.

The 2 big ones ive had to unstich. if you cut a rectangle on the diagnal then you need to flip it when you sew them together unless you want a revolutionary Kite...

Yep, you can get them from AK here (http://www.akpress.org/2097/items/anarchosynidicalistflag). $35 looks pretty steep (I think, I dunno exactly how much dollars are worth), but OTOH giving your money to support anarchist projects is a lot better than just buying from some commercial flag company. I think Manchester AF sell them for about £8, but the postage would make it a lot more.
