The SA80 family of weapons are the bullpup rifle type used by the British armed forces. As well as the usual ways of fucking up guns (pebble in the breech ect ect) the is one specific way of rendering the SA80 unserviceable. To do this you would need to have possession of the weapon for about 30 seconds - 1 minute, so is not something one could do if grappling with a squaddie. Anyhoo, withoutfurther ado:
SAFETY CATCH ON. ALWAYS ALWAYS CHECK THE BUGGER
Cock the weapon. To do this, take a firm hold of the cocking lever, pull it all the way back, then let it snap forward. Tap the cocking handle forward a few times (forward assisst) to make sure that its secure.
Prise open the top cover (the lid of the plastic green hand guard) and disconnect the gas rod. This is the long rod above the barrel, to the rear of the sights. To disconnect, force it away from the muzzle, towards the working parts, until the is enough space to disconnect it from the gas valve. This takes some force.
Now you have a part of the rifle free, throwing it way also US's the gun. However, for a more sneaky and permanent disabling, read on.
Take the gas plug (small lug sticking out of the front of the foresight. The is a small catch thing sticking out of the gas plug set into a hollow groove. This holds the gas plug in position. The grooves are in the 12 and 9 o'clock positions. Push the catch into the plug and slide the plug into the foresight. Now, rotate the plug, with the catch inside the forsesight, into the 6 o'clock position. Wiggle it around until you hear a little, tiny click. This is the plug catch sticking into a tiny hole in the barrel. Congrats, you have now entirely fucked up the L85! Not even an armourer can sort that one, and the once deadly weapon is now so much useless metal :)
