So I've been in a good discussion with a friend of mine about the recent health care stuff going on. We're on the same side but there's another friend who isn't and I mentioned Cuba before and after the revolution with health care and stats and all that and cited from UNICEF. Of course they said Cuba had something to do with fudging the numbers and when I said how they don't have anything to do with the numbers they posted some story to where Cuba is running out of toilet paper. I mentioned it's the fault of the U.S. embargo and they're going based on money not where it matters. I asked how many people still in the U.S. can't read but as of 2004 in Cuba 100% of the people could read and their infant mortality rate has improved over the yrs.

So I would love some more view points to help with spreading more info about Cuba to my friend.

Of course they said Cuba had something to do with fudging the numbersThat's a ridiculous statement that shows their premise of argument is that Cuba is evil.
So Cuba is evil because it forges documents and lies, and it lies because its evil?

Unless they have proof for such a thing, its not even an argument. What if you were just to say that the United States lied about its statistics?

It seems their more interested in defending their point of view than actually engaging in rational thought.

You might also want to do a comparison with other capitalist countries to put Cuba's level of poverty in context. Apparently is a shock to Americans that Cubans only receive $20 a month, but no of course they never mention the capitalist countries which have lower wages and no public education, health care, food rations, etc.

I mentioned it's the fault of the U.S. embargo and they're going based on money not where it matters.

What?
You might also want to bring up the role of the United States in sabotaging the Cuban revolution, starting from the massive grab they had in Cuba prior to the revolution, their support of the Batista dictatorship, the several assassination attempts of Castro, the embargo which has been voted against by almost every country in the UN which was voted against 179-4 multiple years in a row (The only votes against were the US, Israel and Palau and the Marshall Islands for some reason).
