Interesting. Wikileaks.com is a website that finds secret documents and publishes them, basically. Now it apparently seems they have classified video footage of american military murdering civilians, journalists amongst others, and are being threatened by Pentagon.

Someone in the comments of The Morgue brought up the possibility that it could be a lead in to an April Fool's joke (for you non-Americans, April Fool's is on April 1st and it's a day when people prank each other). I hope it is, but it would be interesting if it wasn't.

This could be really damaging to the military and do quite a bit to break down people's delusional belief that US military cares in anyway for human life. Of course, it's essential to mobilize the masses because we already know the Obama administration won't do shit. (Continuing war crimes, protect the war criminals Bush and Cheney and friends, etc.)

In the future there will be photos of that newspaper in the history books, showing how the media was so painfully dominated by reactionaries.

Just look at the ridiculous reasons for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan: «they got WMD'z» and «Terrorists!!! Freedom!!!! USA! USA! USA!.» Ridickless. People should be noticing the scam, I mean this is like VIDEO EVIDENCE slapping you in the face.

And that's the key: in the future, when those involved are long dead, and when society has progressed to a point that "conservatism" means fighting to preserve a way of life that would appear progressive to us today (that's how conservatism works: progressives advance society, conservatives whine then accept the inevitable but insist that we go no further, and the process begins anew). In the future, this massacre will be taken for granted as such. But for now it has to be downplayed, while killings by anti-imperialists are inflated beyond all proportion. (This is the same phenomenon that brings us 24/7 coverage of the "Tea Party" movement in the U$, while generations of leftist activism goes unreported.)

Haven't seen that video yet (limited bandwidth) but I've heard rumours that Wikileaks has a video of another US massacre in which almost a hundred people were killed. May be nothing but watch this space all the same
