The Progressive Labor Union Front pledged in its meeting in Ramallah, held on March 22, 2010, to continue its work to unite the trade union movement in Palestine on a national and democratic basis in order to raise its level of activity and influence to uphold the interests of Palestinian workers and our Palestinian masses.

It emphasized that the issue of unity has become an important requirement in order to uphold steadfastness and confrontation. The bitter experience of division, said the PLUF in its closing statement, has shown that fragmentation only assists the enemy in its goal to further obscure and attack the rights of our people and undermine our legitimate rights to life, freedom, dignity, liberation and independence.

The participants in the PLUF meeting reaffirmed their refusal to work in the settlements, calling upon all Palestinian forces to act to solve the problem of unemployment and poverty and create alternative, independent opportunities for Palestinian workers.

The PLUF particularly praised the protest of Palestinian workers at the privately-operated Zionist Ephraim checkpoint newar Tulkarem, protesting against the racist occupation checkpoints and the daily humiliation of workers at the hands of Zionist corporations and soldiers.
