I guess it's supposed to be like the original, but feature modern hardware. I wonder how easy it would be to upgrade.

On CommodoreUSA's site, it mentions something about being able to run Amiga OS. I think the OS is still in development, with the last version released two years ago or so.

awesome all you need then is a portable tv with a compatible port.

Any idea what the RRP of this is? Must be at least $800.

There's no price details yet, but it should be for sale June 1st. I think it should be probably $200-$300, depending on the specs chosen (you can select different specs on the site).

Dont believe that.

I'd be hard pushed to pick up an xbox 360 for that sort of money.

Do they explain why anyone would want to buy a laptop without a monitor?

It's not a laptop, it's a full computer but without a monitor. This would make it cheaper and a better starter computer for people who can't afford one. There's also the nostalgia factor.

You can score mega cheap laptops though. Those Eee-Pc's are well cheap.

Probably cheaper...and they have a screen.

I got a 128 at a garage sale once (for free, because I knew what it was and that it "couldn't go on the Internet"), with a disk drive. There was a hobbled together device that connected it to my TV, but it was so crappily put together that I always got some snow. I remember if you hold down the Commodore key and boot up, it would start in C64 mode.

It really was. And games cost like £5 at most. You could pick up older games for £2. Bring back those days! I can't even remember half the games that I had. Haven't looked in the box in a long time. I remember it came with Terminator 2 on cartridge rather than cassette. I also managed to completely destroy my Turtles game from over use. I also had some fighting game who's name I can't remember at the moment which was a pain in the arse because it took so long to load (113 on the counter I think) and if you missed it, you had to sit through it all again.

On a side note, are PC game prices coming down everywhere or is it just in Ireland? New games used to be between €50-€60 but I'm picking up a lot of new games for €35 or €40 these days though the odd time I still see expensive ones. I'm a bit surprised that they're actually coming down as there's a growing move towards getting rid of PC games in most stores here.

In the US, it depends. There's "budget games" that are released for $20-$35 or so, then there's the bigger games that cost upwards of $50-$60. Sometimes, companies re-release older games in a jewel case for $15-$20 or so. Other than that, I'd wager the prices stayed the same. There was an article on Slashdot a while back on why video games are priced the way they were, but I didn't read it.
