Obama makes 'em. Teabaggers hate 'em.

What's their purpose anyway?

Haha well I've heard a few too many right-wing rants recently...

They're just advisors to the President. That's it.

Right-wingers have been freaking out over them because its something to freak out over...czars were Russian and Russia was Socialist, so clearly the more czars you have the more Socialist you are. Don't mind the historical inaccuracy, conservatives never do.

I'm p. sure it was Reagan or Bush that named the first "czars" anyway.

But yeah they're advisors.

Communists killed the czar....and his family.
This is so idiotic I don't know where to start.

The idea of Czar's was created by Ronald Reagan. Who had the most Czars of anyone I do believe.

The use of the term 'czar', which is essentially a media buzzword, in US politics far pre-dates Reagan and goes right back to the early decades of the 20th C. As the outmoded transliteration would suggest

The purpose of the czars is to create more red tape and bureaucracies. They grow the government into pointless places and allow for more oversight and eventual regulation of our basic lives. Obama is young and is seen as naive, so he is putting the smartest people into government to make it seem like he knows what he is doing.

I'm sure the idea is for him to save face and not help him in running his shit or anything.

I mean I'm not sticking up for Obama or anything but goddamn you're like the libertarian version of a tankie.

Yeah, those 32 or so advisors sure are chipping away at our rights with all their "bureaucracy".

sometimes my mind gets blown about how stupid some people can be.

How is an advisor adding the the beaucracy you tool? a so called "Czar" is not an official position nor does it have any power.

*shrug* I can't really be bothered by the czars. They don't have any executive power, so I don't see what all the fuss is about. Actually I think this whole obsession with them came from the pundits on the right scraping the bottom of the barrel for something to make people angry about. I wonder what they were trying to distract us from.

The only notable czar position I know of is the drug czar.
