On the 13 of december 05 Tookie was executed for four murders during two robberies, he always denied the crimes, and the man whose statement sentanced him to death, had two ribs broke and a black eye sustained during interrogation.
After years on death row he became a new man, he realised he had been a reactiuonary his whole life and wrote the book redemption which shows how other new afrikans helped him to understand the system and spiritually overcome it.
While on death row Winnie Mandella has visited him, he has been nominated for the nobel prize and started writing organising and campaining for an end to gangs and the conditions from which they arise.

Arnold Schwazzennegger said because Tookie dedicated his memoirs to George Jackson and refused to grass on other crips, that this was evience Tookie was not rehabilitated and deserved to face the capital punishment.
