Quarter-Finals

Inter Milan v CSKA Moscow
Arsenal v Barcelona
Bayern Munich v Manchester United
Lyon v Bordeaux

Semi-Finals

Inter/CSKA Moscow v Arsenal/Barcelona
Bayern/Man United v Lyon/Bordeaux

----------------------------------------------------------

Personally, I predict a Man Utd versus either Inter or Barca final.

Lyon v Bordeaux

Yes, I'm looking forward more to the off pitch action in this tie. Bad Gones Lyon have put on some cracking displays this year as have Ultramarines Bordeaux. Ultramarines are best mates with Lyons biggest rivels, ASSE and their ultras, I'm sure a few from ASSE will be going to this. All and all the French scene is mental right now.

On the park this will also be good, to best teams in France, Marsellie and PSG are way back these days, marsellie went out of the Europa Cup last night to Benfica and PSG didn't even get into Europe.

Inter Milan v CSKA Moscow

Nice to see a 'small' team in CSKA getting this far in the Champions League. I, like many others wouldn't have seen them getting this far, when they got Sevilla I didn't see them going anywhere. Sevilla missed a big chance to go far. Inter will kick their ass.

Arsenal v Barcelona

On pitch game of the round, after Arsenal pulled Porto apart I have high hopes for them. Arsenal will want this as it is a re-run of the final from Paris, great.

I look forward to Arsenal and Barcelona, obviously. Also, I fancy Bayern Munich to cause a few surprises.

I think United will end up in the final with Barca, though I'd love a United/Arsenal final.

Man U/ Barca rematch.

Think so too(and hope also:)) I like bayern, but i dont think can compare, it would be a great match in the final, and especially if barca gets it one more time, but this time in... Bernabeau

I recon CSKA will cause problems for Inter.
Mourinho is too overjoyed by beating his Chelsea, so I think he will underestimate the CSKA squad. I've been watching these guys this year and they are fantastic and they take shit from no one.

Going to the Barca game on wednesday. Can't wait, think we'll keep messi quiet and come out with a scoreless draw or a 1 goal win.

Ok so I guess Man U/Barca won't be happening. :(

I think it still can, Man U have an away goal in the bag and can still nick it at home, without Rooney maybe things will be different but they are very far from a one man team.
Considering how poor Arsenal were at Birmingham on the weekend I can't see them getting anything out of either Barca game.

Remember when United lost 2-1 to Roma in the first leg of the quarter-finals a few seasons back? They won the second leg 7-1.

Now I'm not saying United are gonna beat Bayern 7-1, but they are more than capable of progressing to the semi-finals, even without Rooney.

On another note, the Arsenal-Barcelona game was f**king awesome.

Well, it was a surprise indeed. I was almost prepared to abandon this prediction when Rooney scored in the first match, but I decided to stick to it in the end. I had the same situation tonight, after a fantastic start for Manchester United, but a somewhat lucky Olic goal turned everything around. And then there was Robben; holy shit! The man had been invisible for the entire match, and then he does something like that!

At this stage, I'm wondering if Van Gaal and his team have the potential to go all the way. It would be his finest hour, but it will probably be a bridge too far. They are disciplined and have some great players, one of the best midfields, but none of their strikers are absolute top scorers. Their defence really needs shoring up, and they absolutely need a good new goalkeeper. But I do expect them to win some domestic silverware in the somewhat underappreciated Bundesliga, and Van Gaal is definitely building something there.

Anyway, it is a surprising CL season. No English teams in the semi-finals, Real Madrid failing to progress beyond the 1st Knockout Round for the 6th time in a row, etc. I think Barcelona will be the eventual winners.

From the other thread:

Alex Ferguson just said about Bayern Munich on the sending off of Rafael "they all rushed to the ref, typical germans"

I am so glad he is not our manager, classless prick.

I can kind of understand Ferguson's sentiment. Deserved or not, German teams have a reputation for this kind of stuff. However, the main instigators in this case were Ribéry and Van Bommel. Now, of course Van Bommel is definitely the most "German" Dutchman in football, but it's still ridiculous for a man in Ferguson's position to voice that kind of sentiment out loud.

The idea of "nasty Germans trying to get people sent off" may have some truth to it, but it's mostly just an attempt by their opponents to avoid having to deal with their own failures. Therefore, it is no surprise that it is a popular sentiment in both England and the Netherlands: two footballing nations that often shoot themselves in the foot, and are offended by German efficiency. It's pub talk, and it's unsporting for a manager to seriously suggest it in front of a camera.

Also, does he really think that the referee made his decision based on the players' reaction? It seems very unlikely to me. Otherwise, Ballack's hilarious protest in last season's semi-final could have seen Barcelona eliminated as well. :p And of course, if you leave a booked youngster on the pitch against an opponent like Bayern, you can expect constant provocations aimed at getting the kid sent off. Kind of sad to moan about it afterwards, when everyone with a working pair of eyes saw it coming miles away.

Surely not that surprising seeing as it is the sixth time in a row.

Typical Ferguson. When your team fails blame somebody else.

"Surprising" in the sense that one would expect a team with their material to progress further. Not that I pity them, but their consistent failure in the CL over the last years is interesting. It's developing into the same kind of poor tournament form as the Spain national team until 2008.

Yeah because Man Utd players have *never* rushed to the ref and surrounded him before

Speaking of surrounding the referee... Did anyone see Inter vs Barcelona? When an Inter player got challenged, the referee simply gave a foul at first. Then, after being rushed by 5 Inter players, he gave a yellow card after all. Inter won deservedly, but that was pretty disgraceful from the ref.

Damn TV wasnt showing the game, and the worse is, "i" pay the satellite platform that says it has champions league and europa league, but they decided that to be the first game not to show...
Of course they show it today, but fuck, its like knowing the end of a movie from the start, it cant compared with live match.
But yeah, heard about referees decisions, didnt saw the highlights though
