Why is an anarchist celebrating nationalist and religious symbology?

I would guess its an excuse to drink too much.

Is st. patricks day even a real holiday in Ireland? as in a day off work?

According to Wikipedia, St. Patrick's Day is a public holiday in Ireland and N. Ireland.

True. After looking at that, I still don't see if a lot of people just ditch work or it is standard for most people not to work on the day. I would assume so. I don't know where the drinking aspect of St patricks day comes from, if not from the Irish stereotype.

In any case St. Patricks day means nothing in the land of the free.

You get pinched if you don't wear green.. at least that is what happens in Elementary schools in the United States.

St. Patrick's Day is the day you drive reeeeal slow so the cops don't have an excuse to pick you up to fill their Drunk Day Quotas.

With the exception of protestant towns, yes.

I remember at school the catholic schools got off while we had to sit in like a load of pricks.

Miserable bastards would rather work than legitimise the green saint.
