"Friends" and oppressors
Israel took the opportunity of Vice President Joe Biden's recent visit to show the true nature of its friendship with the United States. It defiantly announced new settlement construction in East Jerusalem, a move promptly condemned by the U.S. administration. America's unwavering, unquestioning support of Israel during its 60-plus year history has too often been returned with incidents of spying, lies, arrogance and disrespect. An individual who put up with this behavior from a 'friend' would be thought lacking in self-esteem, ignorant, under coercion of some kind, or operating from ulterior motives. Which is it, U.S.? Unless the U.S.'s foreign policy regarding Israel/Palestine is completely cynical, their so-called friendship with the apartheid Zionist state should be critically re-evaluated, and new, more trustworthy friendships cultivated. In another display of callous disregard for anyone else's wishes or rights, and a headstrong push toward grabbing anything and everything they have in their sights, the Zionist state claimed two mosques as Jewish heritage sites. Of course the Palestinians are going to react to this provocation. Wouldn't you if your church, synagogue or temple were taken over by an oppressive authority? But Israel uses this as just another excuse to clamp down with their oppression, point their finger at the oppressed, and continue chipping away at the Palestinian's rights. How long is this unethical and immoral conduct going to be the norm?
Stand up and say it has to stop! Join us in the protest!
