On the fourth anniversary of the kidnapping of Comrade Sa'adat, PFLP denounces torture and isolation

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine pointed out on March 13, 2010, the fourth anniversary of the kidnapping of General Secretary Comrade Ahmad Sa'adat from Jericho prison, that the policies of abuse, revenge and torture committed by the occupation against Comrade Sa'adat and all Palestinian prisoners only expose the desperation of the occupation.
The PFLP statement said that the occupation has failed to control or break the political will of the prisoners and the resistance, and that all of these abuses will not succeed in deterring Comrade Sa'adat, a national leader of our people, in continuing the struggle for freedom, the right of return, self-determination, independence, sovereignty and liberation.
The Front saluted the steadfast position of the resistance in regard to the captive occupation soldier Shalit, for insisting on its demands to release national leaders and those serving long sentences.
The Campaign in solidarity with Ahmad Sa'adat also announced that on March 9, 2010, the occupation authorities had once again transferred Comrade Sa'adat from the isolation wing of Eshel prison to the isolation wing of Ohali Kedar prison in Bir Saba, continuing their policy of isolation and abuse against Comrade Sa'adat.
The Campaign also called for the widest possible campaign of solidarity with Comrade Sa'adat marking the fourth anniversary of his kidnapping, including a large rally in Ramallah on March 13, 2010, including a screening of a new film about Comrade Sa'adat. This was planned to be the first of a series of events in the West Bank, including sit-ins in Nablus and Khalil to take place on Monday, Mrch 15, 2010.
The Popular Front's prisoners' organization noted that the renewed isolation against Comrade Sa'adat and the most recent transfer - which have been repeatedly imposed upon him throughout his imprisonment - come also as part of a campaign of abuse against PFLP members and cadres in prison, in retaliation for their continued expression of solidarity with Comrade Sa'adat and their campaign against isolation, including sending letters from the prisons to international human rights organizations to build pressure to end isolation.
Prison administrators transferred 20 PFLP prisoners to other prisons; in Eshel prison, ten prisoners were transferred at a late hour to other prisons; in Ramon prison, twenty prisoners were fined in amounts ranging from 500 shekels to 1000 shekels.
The Prisoners' Commission of the National and Islamic Forces joined in the denunciation of the transfer of prisoners, in particular the abuse directed at Comrade Leader Sa'adat, indicating that this policy proves the utter disregard for Palestinian prisoners on the part of the Zionist occupation. The commission said that this is meant to break the morale of Palestinian prisoners and to attempt to end communication between Palestinian leaders and the grassroots. The commission demanded action to end Israeli abuses against Palestinian prisoners.
The National Task Force in Rafah also denounced the repressive practices of the occupier against Comrade Sa'adat, calling for a broad campaign of solidarity with the national leader and all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The Prisoners' Commission of the Task Force called for the PLO to take action at all national and international levels to release our prisoners in the Zionist dungeons, emphasizing the need for popular participation in cities, villages, and refugee camps in Palestine and in exile in all events in solidarity with the prisoners. It concluded its statement by saluting the steadfastness of Comrade Sa'adat and other Palestinian imprisoned national leaders, such as Marwan Barghouthi, Sheikh Hassan Yousef, Ali Jaradat, and Sheikh Bassam Sa'adi, and calling for the freedom for all of our prisoners.
The fourth anniversary of the kidnapping comes shortly after the occupation high court rejected a motion challenging Comrade Sa'adat's isolation in the Zionist prisons on March 4, 2010, ruling that he was "passing messages" to the armed wing of the PFLP, indicating once more that the courts of the occupation are part and parcel of the occupation state's war on the Palestinian people.
