Anarchist Bookfair in Stockholm, Summer 2010

On Saturday, June 5, 2010 the Stockholm Anarchist Bookfair will be organized at Årsta folkets hus, just south of the city center. There will be stalls by Swedish and international publishers, panel discussions, bands, movies, a crèche, and a "people's kitchen."

The bookfair's aim is to advance analysis, to exchange experience, and to strengthen cooperation. Furthermore, we want to correct simplified images of anarchism and anarchists. We want the bookfair to be open and inviting: a place where everyone feels welcome, curious pensioners as much as long-time activists. We are specifically reaching out to individuals, groups, and organizations in the Baltic region to establish contacts, share ideas, and build networks for the future – special meetings will be scheduled for this purpose!

Also, the following day is the swedish national day. In 2004 the AFA held a demonstration against racism and nationalism, for international solidarity. The nazis unsuccessfully tried to attack the demonstration, the following years (2005-2008) they held their own demonstrations instead. But the antifascist counter protests forced them to stay of the streets in 2009 so the radical socialist movement have now reclaimed Stockholm on june 6th.

There's still a chance that the nazis will show up on june 6th, and if so we could act against them. But we will probably have the streets for ourselves to enjoy a summer weekend with an anarchist bookfair as well as a big internationalist socialist festival and demonstration.

Around the same time (10th of June or so), there will be a festival in Stockholm, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the SAC.

Thats correct, june 9-13 that is.

I just remembered that another big event is planned in Stockholm june 5th, there will be "shut it down", mass action against a coal plant.

So there's a lot of big stuff going on in Stockholm this summer.

How likely is it that the neo nazis will march on June 6 2010 or try to attack the antifa demo?

There's probably gonna be more cops than protestors (both sides combined), so probably a very, very small chance. However, there's usually some small fights later in the evening, but that's usually handled by our militant antifascists.

Also, on the fifth, there's gonna be an anti-rascist festival in a big park in Stockholm, which will probably - if the weather gods are on our side - be really fun.

If somebody has plans on going to Sweden sometime, i'm really recommending early june this year.

Its quite expensive, 3 to 5 GBP. Usually 2£ if you buy at a leftwing-club.

Here's the program so far:
