Google maps apparently now has bicycle routes in certain US cities. Since most bike messengers already know their routes it's not too useful. But google is also going to have an iPhone app for it. Talk about a white, bourgeois, liberal, life-stylist fantasy.
Having said that, the plans are to expand it abroad. So, post here how your experience with it has been.

I don't see the point. It is WAY more fun to ride around and figure out the fastest paths on your own.

how could poor people possibly afford bikes which doctor? everyone knows that the poor use cars because they are much cheaper and more reliable.

To be fair bicycling is more practical in Europe where I get the impression it's usually shorter distance between stores, workplace and home. For me it's faster, cheaper and less hassle-some to bicycle to work than driving.
