Do I always have to carry that shameful guilt with me? Since the day I saw light... they said to me... Type P... once I saw it in my passport and I wondered what does it mean... type P!! Is it pig or peacock? No... May be pudding, peaches or pasta sauce? It can't be like that … oh may be pants or nail polish? That's silly... I should ask Saleh, he is in university and he knows everything... They learn everything in universities... when I asked him, his eyes were widely opened as if I did the biggest sin ever ... He smiled and said: "type P stands for your nationality you idiot ... P means Palestinian "...
How come I didn't even think about it? I am really an idiot... it is true that university students know everything... but wait a minute... I am not a type...I am not a thing how can they classify me as a thing? I am not nail polish or pasta sauce... types are for things and I am not a thing... they only classify me because I am a foreigner... Just because I am away from home!!
From that moment the P latter became only a symbol for Palestine and only stands for Palestine...
If they would ask me what does the letter P means... I would say: "it is my small and largest paradise ...my sweet pain and endless passion ... my present, past and coming days ... my favorite poem and childhood lullaby ... my grandma's perfume and daily poison ... my prison and precious freedom ... The definition of pride … my reason to be pessimistic and survive .. My teacher to be patient... my own possession and only home... the play that I never understood... The last piece of puzzle that I never found... the sick suffocating peace... the word that is who I am... the holly mother Palestine...

In spite of the harmful humiliating pain caused by these silly non- just classifications... I consider it the greatest privilege ever and the most wonderful grace I am enjoying in life .. I am Palestinian...
