Captial E in a circle meaning

i was looking through pictures i have of anarchy riots and gathering and such and i notice theres some that have E's in a circle much like the A.

what is its meaning?:confused:

Yeah, I've heard it means "equality." Alternatively, I've heard "egalitarianism" too.
