Well he's generally a pretty decent speaker. It's mostly the cult of personality that surrounds him that people don't like.

But seriously, it is a good talk and even though I don't like the personality cult, Avakian is impressive here. At least they break up the video into 3 parts and categorize the topics by time.

The video is ok, I have the DVD.

I think he should have spent more time talking about what socialism and communism will look like. Where he discusses the scenario of a hospital in socialism is a valuable part of the talk.

The q&a section is kind of annoying at times, like when RCYBers ask him his favorite movie/song...how can you even wonder why people scream cult of personality?

Comrades, if we haven't listened to the brother or know his political line, we can't judge him. A lot of people say that Obama is a "socialist" or "communist". Is he? Absolutely not. Just analyze him and you'll see he's not. So what I am trying to say is don't be quick to accuse if you haven't studied his line.

I used to think Bob Avakian was a joke and that the RCP were a "cult of personality" but as I've been doing research my opinion on them has changed.

P.S I am not a party member. Just thought I should clear that up. Thanks you guys and enjoy.

If a transcript were available, it would be possible to analyze and critique his work if one were so inclined. Using a CD or DVD turns a person into a passive listener. It is very difficult both to listen to a CD/DVD and criticize at the same time. That's why a transcript is necessary for serious consideration.
