Jacque Fresco, the founder of The Venus Project, is going to have a lecture in Stockholm on the 24th of July this year. The tickets for the event would not be sold after the month of May, so anyone who wants to meet Jacque needs to buy a ticket before that.

I'm on a Bookchin kick right now so I'm open minded to what the Venus Project is about- at least they aren't capitalists, but, the accusations of lifestylism are bound to be on peoples minds. Jacque seems like a strange personality... I've seen the Zeitgeist videos but... I can't quite get into the Venus project. Doing nothing is worse but is that really what we should all be doing? I'm not going to hate on the Venus Project but I don't see myself joining it. We need to take over the means of production. Globally. We shouldn't try to create our own communities. You/we cannot create islands of socialism in a sea of capitalism.

I'm not a member of TVP either, but I have to contest the notion that it is meaningless to form own networks. It isn't. The reason why the bourgeois could take over the power in the French Revolution was that they already controlled most of the French urban economy.
