Hey everyone. Just A question about Castro. I've seen the word "Castroism" around before, but so far not on this site. Is "Castroism" even a tendency of Marxism? If it is, what makes it unique?

I don't know what Castroism is really, but I can tell you that it is supposedly Marxism-Leninism applied to Cuba's situation.
The thing is that every country is different, and is in a different situation, so it's normal to exist ''micro-tendencies''. When the differences are big enough, a whole new tendency comes up.

Castroism is not a specific ideology, the most it could refer to the specific conditions of Cuban Socialism.

The only groups I know being labeled as castroist are the SWP (US) and the DSP in Australia, mostly because they abandoned trotskyism is favour of uncritically supporting the Cuban regime.

Castroism is not considered a political tendency, as although it is a veritable term denoting the particular situation of Cuban Socialism, its central content is not intended to, or indeed not able to, be applied in a generic context.
That is, as said above, Castroism is a 'micro-tendency', intended for, and applicable to, use in Cuba specifically, rather than being a model for world Socialism.

I'm a supporter of Cuba, & it's struggle that it's gone through, but I don't think their 'type of socialism' should be one that is recorded as a particular ideology, for in Cuba, it's going through a Monarchial system, where Cuba is being purely run by Castro's.

 How comes that supporting or not the Cuban revolution makes any difference in being Trotskyist? The IMT supports the Cuban and even the Venezuelan revolutions without abandoning its Trotskist ideology. It's a matter of political tactics, just as Stalinists support every National Liberation Movement.

The keyword is "uncritically". The SWP themselves made a statement to that effect when they left the USFI.
