Would be a good idea for socialists and anarchists to form a vets organization? It could be a good alternative to the government onee.

The ANSWER (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) Coalition recently initiated a Veterans, service members and military families organization that is an affiliate of the Coalition, March Forward!. They've been doing a lot of outreach in the last year or so, notably when many members were arrested for hanging banners on government buildings promoting the anti-war march on the Pentagon in 2009. You can check them out at www.MarchForward.org (http://www.MarchForward.org).

Please don't post one-word responses. Consider this a verbal warning.

What's the relationship between March Forward and IVAW? Why did ANSWER think it was necessary to set up a seperate vets organisation, rather than just getting involved in IVAW? Not attacking or criticising any groups here, I'm genuinely curious.

I asked kassad about this, he said it is just a group for service members/family of inside of ANSWER and not meant to be competion for IVAW.

I would also like to give a mention to GI Rights. They don't have an overt political agenda, but they are the ones who provide soldiers with information that can facilitate them getting out of the military--they essentially provide legal consultation.
