Hey guys, in September im gonna be going into a Radio Broadcasting program at my university, and i was wondering if any of you guys have experience in the field, and want to let me know how you got started, what you did to get where you did and all. basically tell me your story.

I want to get my self as prepared as possible for the course, and afterwards when i go into the career of radio.

Do you mean like a talk show host or a "DJ?" My friend and I got a radio show at my university by asking the guy who runs it (a student) towards the beginning of the semester. We play music and make witty comments between songs. We've considered writing radio dramas but we've never got around it.

Avoid the word "um" at all costs! My friend does a radio show and he tells me that a moment of silent deliberation is better than a bunch of "ums".

yeah mostly Radio DJ, but i dont want to be a one trick pony, know what im saying?

haha I've taken speech courses through army Cadets, but i still get my "uhms!" I think i can work that out when i talk to people, just resist all urges to say "uhm"
