If we look to history and juxtapose today's worker movement with that of the worker movement during the last big crisis in the 1930's we'll see my point first hand. Today worker solidarity is next to non existent. Why? I'll give a brief/ simplified explication.
During this current capitalist crisis revolutionaries have dropped the ball. This means all of us- Anarchists and Marxists. Revolutionaries haven't countered the right wing propaganda responsible for the reactionary Tea Parties and early on too many of us put faith in Obama. Why I don't know. Not many people will admit to the latter but I witnessed it happen throughout the Bay Area on a meaningful scale. The fact that a man of color was elected is great BUT , in reality, he has been used against us by the capitalists. It's my opinion he's single handedly marginalized the anti war movement and other socialist organizations who have not wanted to organize in fear of streangthening the even righter wing opposition. I say righter wing because Obama is in fact a right wing neoliberal politician. Funding has also been non existent. Most of the resistance during the Bush administration was funded by capitalist liberals who are now in power.
Another reason no viable working class movement has risen is we collude with liberals and many of us apologize for the liberal representatives in Washington out of fear for strengthening the righter wing alternative. The sectarian in fighting in a time when we should be pushing solidarity also does not help. If we can't even unite ourselves how do we expect to unite all workers?
The FOX news/right wing media has also been responsible for lulling the working class into some strange Neo McCarthy furry. We have a choice between neoliberal economic agenda A which is being touted as socialism or neoliberal economic agenda B which is being touted as conservatism. There is no viable revolutionary voice.
My question is- when are we going to start strongly condemning Obama, Democrats and the Tea Party people while organizing working class resistance to both these factions who are pushing bunkum at the behest of their capitalist masters? Am I the only one who see's Obama for what he is [a trojan horse neoliberal who has marginalized the real left]? A wolf in sheep's clothing. When will it be time to reenergize the working class as was begining to happen under Bush? Nothing has changed, in fact, things have become worse for working people across the globe thanks to Obama. How do we organize and oppose Obama without strengthening Republican conservatives? This is my question. Instead of arguing with Tea Party people should we try to go to their rallies and spread working class awareness or should a line be drawn while organizing against them and liberals at the same time? My main question is how the hell do we do anything with both liberals and conservatives working against us? Why is the American working class so god damned blind? *Throws hands in air* Am I the only one dumbfounded as to why there is no strong working class movement during this economic crisis? Now's our chance. Opportunity is slipping away with each day that passes.
