Hi! I recently came across RevLeft (somehow on a random google search about a Marx quote). I started looking around, liked what I saw, and here I am. I didn't bother to check out too many introductions, so I'll just wing it...

I'm 20 years old, and was first introduced to radical thought 3 years ago (almost to the day). Newbie, right? Well, my friend started getting my interested into politics and history. I never read, but one day he handed me a Howard Zinn book and suggest I read it. Thus began my journey of developing new thoughts and my first step towards radicalism. I started off with Zinn, Chomsky, and (Naomi) Klein. The past year, I have been reading a lot of good literature published and distributed by Haymarket Books and others, such as: Chris Harman, Mike Davis, Sherry Wolf, Doug Stokes, among many others. I would first classify myself as a eco-socialist, or a democratic socialist with environmentalist considerations. I have some curiosity into some anarchism (particularly anarcho-syndicalism), but havent ventured far into the ideology.

I come from a middle-class background, but the past few years have been tough. I moved away from my hometown, and although I am trying to get back to working on college, it's hard in these times. I work 2 jobs, and both of them love the art of slashing hours, so I barely get by. I'm an uninsured diabetic, so you can imagine how fun that is... I am currently going to get all the crap out of the way and just do Liberal Arts, then hopefully transfer to a university to study history, economics, and/or political science. I'm not sure.

The area I just recently moved to (Northern Indiana) is pretty conservative, and if you aren't conservative, you're an Obamamaniac. It's hard to find any other radicals, or anyone that isnt an armchair revolutionary. As for now, while trying to organize something or find more people interested in the struggle and issues that surround us, I try to participate as much as I can with local peace activists (who also are active in other topics such as healthcare and green-ness). It's alright, but I'm always looking and hoping to do more.

I don't really know what else to say, I feel like I've rambled enough about nothing. Thanks for reading, comrades.

Welcome! Good to meet a fan of Haymarket books.

Also, I think I found RevLeft the same way.

I found Revleft via the Youtube channel. But we really need to do some more advertising...
