“The 'Dude, You're Getting a Dell' Guy getting arrested for smoking marijuana is a very big moment for stoner culture. It in effect brought marijuana into the living rooms of millions of homes. Parents were reminded of it, every time they saw the commercials. Pot "infiltrated" suburbia

Just because they were reminded of it doesn't mean that they were reminded of it for a desired reason.

But this was before Weeds.

If people want to smoke marijuana, that's fine. However, it kind of annoys me sometimes. People smoking marijuana have been known to create threads about it. Threads that, if I were a cynic, I might suggest were created by someone high at the time. Threads that argue rather ridiculous things with little justification and obscure references.

Marijuana has been in the living room for a long time because people have been smoking it for a long time. Parents don't magically stop smoking it when they have kids, and kids don't magically stop having their stash found because some irrelevant commercial actor was caught with possession. Those commercials were horrible.
