Oh wait... (http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/2010/02/15/us/politics/20100208TEAPARTY_15.html)

I got to say, I like the "Fire the commie Czars" poster...
These people are fucking morons.

The article quotes a 70 year old woman trying to sound heroic saying that she carries a constitution copy with here everywhere and would die before letting Obama destroy it...
Little does she seem to know, books are to be read, not just carried.

How many Trotskyist groups do you know that aren't entirely composed of white men with the occasional token woman? It's not a criticism of the ideology, it's just, think about it. Yeah, a lot of the teabaggers are white. So are a lot of American and European commies and anarchists.

In the Pacific North West it is moderately diverse, I think the woman in charge of the Seattle branch is Indian, also a few black and Hispanic members. At the Socialism 2009 Washington Conference I would say it was about 60% male, 40% women.
Most of my leftist friends are actually Latino

No shit. I turned up to an anarchist meeting of some description once that would have been indistinguishable from a scumfront meetup at a distance.

Pretty much 50/50 here in my org. It varies slightly in the local chapters of course, with more female members in stockholm and some of the northern chapters, and still a slight overepresentation of males in gothenburg. In my current chapter and my home chapter, we're mostly guys right now, but then again both chapters are still in the upstart phase so it's bound to change. Etnicitywise it's not 50/50 but comparatively to most groups I would say we have more members coming from a different ethnic background than the dominant.

So that seems more like a cliché than trust worthy data. It's like the oft repeated claim that autonomous groups would be "mostly middleclass". In my experience this is simply not true and rather stereotypes put forward...for the benefit of whom exactly?

I do a lot of organizing here and I've met a lot of groups, as have my friends. It's not a rule. A lot of anarchist groups (formal and informal) are mostly women. Most groups, except for those where there's a particular reason otherwise (eg. you might have a Palestinian solidarity group where there are a lot of Arabs), are mostly white, partly for the reason that it's a country which is majority white and it's totally reasonable, partly because a lot of activism is centred around places (eg. universities) that are themselves disproportionally white, and partly for reasons which are deserving of some criticism.

Posts to the effect of "well MY group happens not to be mostly white males" are totally missing my original point, which was if lack of ethnic diversity in a group is a serious criticism of a group, than a number of "our" groups should be subject to that criticism as well.
