THE ANTIFA DID IT! AMERICAN RENAISSANCE CONFERENCE CANCELLED!

Monday, 15 February 2010 20:59 OPP HQ

http://onepeoplesproject.com/images/AmRenCANCELLED.jpgThat's right. Done. Kaput. Finished. Over. CANCELLED! After three months of getting the word out and letting people know that a group of politically connected white supremacists were planning to meet this weekend, American Renaissance editor Jared Taylor (http://onepeoplesproject.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=121:jared-taylor&catid=20:t&Itemid=3) threw in the towel, effectively canceling the American Renaissance Conference 2010. Of course this comes after losing yet another hotel. Taylor and the other organizers thought that they would be able to keep the location under wraps until 48 hours before the conference, to discourage protesters from organizing, a "fool-proof plan" to hear them explain it. Memo to Jared Taylor: Antifa are not fools, and to think otherwise makes you one. People from all over the country went into overdrive trying to find out where this conference was and the effort simply paid off. It didn't help matters much that in the midst of all of this we broke the story about how ACORN videographer James O'Keefe (http://onepeoplesproject.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=201:james-okeefe&catid=15:o&Itemid=3) attended a white supremacist forum with Jared Taylor on the panel, because the traffic coming from that also meant people were going to learn more about Taylor and is current activities. That meant the opposition went viral! This has never happened before. This was once a conference that you could watch on C-SPAN. Now you would be lucky if it even happens! We want to thank everyone that stayed on top of this and helped make this happen. As for the other side - those who support Taylor and this conference, especially those who were going, they will continue down their psychopathic roads, regardless of how detrimental it is to them. As Taylor should know by now, there's a lot of people who are willing to be that detriment, and Unlike Taylor, we don't apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused! One People's Project

MANASSAS, VA, Feb. 15-For the first time since its inception in 1994, the biannual American Renaissance (AmRen) Conference scheduled for this weekend has been cancelled in the midst of ever-increasing opposition by community members and activists from around the country, and the loss of the third venue the conference was supposed to take place.
"We regret to inform you that today, February 15, the hotel at which we planned to hold the conference canceled its contract with us," American Renaissance editor Jared Taylor wrote in an email to supporters. "Hostile callers phoned the hotel and threatened employees with death. One was specifically warned, "If you hold this conference I will go in there and shoot you." Hotel management reported these threats to the police but felt it had no choice but to cancel.
"We had backup possibilities, but all have fallen through, so we will not be holding the February 19-21 conference," Taylor continued.
That hotel, the Four Points Sheraton in Manassas, Virginia, was a venue AmRen organizers attempted to keep under wraps, with a plan to notify conference attendees of the event's location 48 hours beforehand to discourage opposition. That plan failed on Sunday, when the Self Described Anarchist Collective posted the location on their website as well as on the Washington, DC Indymedia website. The R.E.A.L. Organization, who was also working to oppose the conference, says in a posting on their website today that they were in conversation with hotel administration about the conference.
"While the location of the NCF/AR event could have been learned by anyone else, we have made an effort to not promote or publicize this information to the general public, while R.E.A.L. talked to Four Points Sheraton and Starwood management," The posting read. "This morning, we were told by the Four Points Sheraton that the NCF/AR event was canceled at that location."
Guess they won't be needing this! This flyer was to be distributed sometime this week by local antifa. Instead we got it for everyone to see. Pretty snazzy, isn't it? Click on image to enlarge.

(http://onepeoplesproject.com/amren2010flyer-color.jpg) Other organizations and individuals had also joined in the opposition, including the global union Workers Uniting, the Mormon Worker newspaper, Anti-Racist Action, the North Eastern Federation of Anarchist Communists (NEFAC), and several bloggers on the internet. It is not known, however who is responsible for the threats alluded to in Jared Taylor's statement. Taylor, meanwhile plans a news conference for later this week, according to the R.E.A.L. Organization posting.
The AmRen Conference, a biannual event that brings neo-Nazis and paleoconservatives alike together to discuss what the AmRen website calls "racial-realist thought". Former Ku Klux Klansman David Duke has attended, and Don Black and a group of posters to his white supremacist website Stormfront are regulars.
The keynote speaker this year was to be Nick Griffin, the head of the British National Party. He was also scheduled to speak at Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI and Kenyon College in Gambier, OH, as well as make an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference, which is to take place at a Marriott in Washington, D.C. the same weekend as AmRen. Organizers of the Kenyon College rescinded their invite earlier today however after it began to create controversy. The statuses of the other two appearances are unknown.

'Rumors of my death have been highly exaggerated'

Perhaps I should post this as a new topic, but the American Renaissance Conference is back on. They, OPP and SPLC all proclaimed this weekend's conference as dead as a doornail, but as of today, they have found a new spot: the Capitol Skyline Hotel
(202.488.7500 or 800.458.7500 or [email protected])

in Washington DC. So, to repeat, the white supremacist conference is back on.

http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/images/CapitolSkyline.jpgSee that picture to your right? You might have seen it just a few days ago on our front page. It is the Capitol Skyline Hotel, and last week it held a conference where a anti-Semitic, ex-con, ex-congressman spoke before a bunch of his fellow anti-Semites (http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=325%3Ashut-down-another-racist-event-in-washington-dc&catid=29%3Aantifa-news&Itemid=1). In November the hotel played host to another conference where David Duke spoke to the same crowd. This is the hotel that is stepping up for Jared Taylor (http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=121:jared-taylor&catid=20:t&Itemid=3) & Co, and to that end it puts itself in the crosshairs, but that's something we will deal with later. It also means antifa is steppin' out to play! We are waiting for the official call from other organizations, and when we get them we will post it here, but in the meantime if you were planning to come out, keep those plans. This is going to be damned interesting! One People's Project

WASHINGTON, DC-Despite earlier announcements that they cancelled the American Renaissance Conference, organizers say they have secured another venue, a hotel with a recent history of hosting white supremacists.

The Capitol Skyline Hotel, located five blocks from the US Capitol at 10 I Street SW, Washington, DC, is the venue being announced on the American Renaissance website. "This hotel will not back down in the face of threats," the announcement noted, making reference to their earlier assertion that death threats prompted the Four Points Sheraton to shut their doors to the conference.

In recent months conferences sponsored by the anti-Semitic American Free Press have taken place at the Capitol Skyline Hotel. Last Saturday, convicted ex-Congressman Jim Trafficant spoke to an audience there on behalf of the newspaper and on Nov. 7, the keynote speaker at that conference was former Klansman David Duke. Council of Conservative Citizens member Peter Papaheraklis of Kensington, MD has had a hand in the last two events, but it is not known if he is assisting organizers with the change of venue. American Renaissance editor Jared Taylor is a board member for the Council of Conservative Citizens.

Since yesterday's cancellation announcement, several racist and right-leaning websites have posted Taylor's press release on the matter, including Breitbart.com, the website that worked to defend conservative propagandist James O'Keefe when it was learned he participated in a racist forum in 2006 that featured Taylor as a panelist. The website for the English Nationalist Party called for its readers to "go into Bill White mode and pre-emptively target anti-racists with direct action," referring to the neo-Nazi blogger and landlord that was recently convicted and faces up to 40 years in federal prison for communicating threats against individuals via his website and the mail. At press time, there has been no official statement from any anti-racist groups.

The best thing is Nick Griffin decided not to come to the US and speak there, after all the trouble he has been getting.

http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/images/sadgriffin.jpgLet's face it, you win some you lose some. We didn't expect that American Renaissance (AmRen) Conference was going to be canceled, so the fact that it is back on doesn't bother us. The fallout continues for Jared Taylor & Co. though. British National Party Leader Nick Griffin decided he is not coming to the US now that Michigan State University joined Kenyon College in Ohio in disinviting him. Given that the climate around the AmRen Conference is iffy to say the least, he feels there's no point in him coming out here at all to just talk to the Conservative Political Action Conference - which by the way has to be a great relief to some folks who are attending that. Conservatives get away with Muslim hatred, so it is expected that Geert Wilders could show up there. Griffin? No, that's another ball of wax, especially with two colleges giving him the boot and the big white power conference walking on a tightrope. Ah, being a bonehead is never easy, is it?
One People's Project

In a statement published on the American Renaissance website, Michigan State University's Sons of Liberty student group announced that they will not be able to host Nick Griffin on Wednesday, prompting the British National Party leader to cancel his entire trip to the US, which would include speaking at the American Renaissance Conference which is back on as of Tuesday afternoon after being cancelled itself by organizers due to opposition to the event.

"The event was cancelled because left-wing agitators caused other organizations to cancel their own events that featured Griffin, and it could not be justified for Griffin to fly to the U.S. to only speak at MSU and at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C.," the Sons of Liberty statement read. Besides the American Renaissance Conference and CPAC, Griffin was also slated to speak at Kenyon College until opposition to his appearance prompted organizers to withdrawl the invite.

Sons of Liberty, stated that threats of violence prompted the cancellation, just like the organizers of the American Renaissance did when they cancelled. To date no one has been arrested or identified as responsible for such threats in either case.

This would have been Sons of Liberty's first public event.

MSU group cancels appearance by racist British leader (http://michiganmessenger.com/34887/msu-student-group-cancels-appearance-by-controversial-british-leader)

Griffin scheduled to speak at MSU, then at white nationalist conference

By Todd A. Heywood
2/17/10

EAST LANSING — British National Party leader Nick Griffin — known for his denial of the Holocaust and his advocacy of throwing all non-whites and non-Europeans out of the British Isles — has canceled several speaking engagements this week, including a scheduled appearance at Michigan State University on Thursday.

Griffin was invited to speak at MSU by a new student group called Sons of Liberty. The group’s president and founder, Jordan Zammit, issued a press release (http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/2010/02/nick_griffin_ev.php) late Tuesday afternoon blaming the cancellation on “left-wing agitators” who “relentlessly threatened with violence and death the organizers of the events.”

Griffin was to speak at three events this week – at MSU on Thursday from noon to 1:30, then at Kenyon College in Ohio later that day, and finally this weekend at the biennial American Renaissance conference in Virginia.

The appearance at Kenyon College had already been canceled on Monday afternoon. Taylor Somers, leader of the Robert A. Taft Society at Kenyon College, announced he was rescinding the invitation to Griffin to speak because they feared violence, reports (http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=330:taylor-somers-statement-kenyon-college-invite-to-nick-griffin-withdrawn&catid=29:antifa-news) One People’s Project.

The possibility of violence, or at least unintentional injury, to Kenyon students at such an event outweighs, we feel, any contribution that could be gained from having Griffin speak. Never have we intended to incite violence or to otherwise provide an atmosphere in which it becomes at all likely. With Campus Safety’s advice in mind, and as members of the Kenyon community, we must take it upon ourselves to do the right thing and ensure no one is injured. It isn’t worth the possibility of violence or the further pain that will almost certainly be caused, so with those concerns in mind we have canceled.

It’s not clear who would be responsible for this hypothetical violence. Somers’ announcement came after he posted on his Facebook (http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=328:ohio-college-student-booking-nick-griffin-wants-a-little-payback-on-us&catid=29:antifa-news) a call to others to “retaliate” against those who were opposing Griffin’s speech.

“The antifa[cists] thugs at the One People’s Project are hounding me,” Taylor Somers wrote on his Facebook recently, providing a link to the article in question. “Would anybody care to retaliate against them?”

One of Somers’ Facebook friends then responded, “Yes, let’s have some violent reaction to it. I live near D.C.” The same person then commented, “Smash the reds. White power!!!!”

When asked if there had been any threats aimed at Griffin’s appearance at MSU, Zammit told the Michigan Messenger that he had “not received death threats or threats of violence.” He also said he did not have any evidence or documentation for any such threats being aimed at the Kenyon College talk, and said only that he’d been “informed that the hotels that canceled the AmRen conference did so out of fear for their employees safety.”

That all of this talk of racism and white power involves Griffin and American Renaissance is not surprising. American Renaissance is the magazine of the New Century Foundation, a white nationalist organization founded by Jared Taylor.

This group has often been described as presenting a more genteel, academic-sounding version of old-fashioned racism. The magazine often features articles arguing for racial separatism and for the genetic inferiority of blacks. They prefer to call themselves “race realists (http://www.amren.com/mtnews/archives/2009/08/what_we_call_ou.php).” Griffin has spoken to their conference before, in 2002.

Coincidentally, it was on the AmRen website that Zammit chose to announce Griffin’s speech at MSU and its cancellation, saying that the AmRen conference had to be canceled due to alleged threats against several hotels that had agreed to host the event.

“Griffin could not afford to spend time in the U.S. to only speak at MSU and at CPAC when he could otherwise spend his time campaigning for a seat in the U.K. Parliament,” Zammit wrote in his release.

But on Tuesday night, AmRen announced (http://www.amren.com/conference/2010/index.html) that the conference was back on because they had found a hotel near Capitol Hill that would host it. It’s not clear whether Griffin will still be appearing at the event.

Griffin’s appearance at MSU, however, remains canceled. “Mr. Griffin will not be making his way to MSU if he does come to the States,” Zammit said.
This would not have been Griffin’s first appearance the East Lansing campus. He spoke in October 2007, when his appearance was greeted with protests and turned in to a tense argument between Griffin and his audience.

“Muslims gang rape women in Norway and other cultures. Only Muslims do this,” he told the crowd. He spoke out against race mixing, saying, “We don’t believe in integration. Integration is extermination.”

During his Q and A with the audience, Griffin called protesters stupid, accused them of being bused in from Detroit, and of being lesbians. He also told protesters he would “shove” homosexuals back in the closet and “kill them.”

And while there was a cantankerous give and take between Griffin and the audience in October of 2007, there was no violence or arrests during the event. Following the event, however, several members of YAF were chased into a nearby parking ramp by protesters. No charges were ever filed over the incident.

For his part, Zammit stated several times in emails exchanged with the Michigan Messenger that he does not share Griffin’s views on race.

“My motivation for hosting Mr. Griffin was that I was presented with the opportunity, and although I do not agree with his views, I believe he has the right to speak, and therefore, since he was already coming to the United States, I believed it would be beneficial to the University if he came here,” Zammit said. “Again, I reiterate, I do not agree with Mr. Griffin’s views or his party, but I was very much looking forward to hearing him speak and his views on things. No harm could ever come from listening.”
