FIGHT RACISM! FIGHT IMPERIALISM! PRESENTS:
If the climate were the banking system, they would have saved it already
A PUBLIC MEETING
24 February, 7.30pm,
London School of Economics,
Room H103,
Connaught House,
Aldwych
LONDON, UK
WC2*
At the Copenhagen Climate Change conference underdeveloped countries rejected the attempts of imperialist governments to impose a deal ignoring their responsibility for environmental destruction.
$10 billion was offered for under-developed countries to deal with the effects of climate change. This is an insultingly low sum compared to the bailout of the banks or the $2,600 billion spent on the Iraq war.
While British, US and European politicians try to convince us that market solutions can avert climate change, Cuba, Venezuela, and Bolivia have pointed out the root cause of environmental degradation: capitalism.
Join us to discuss what really happened at Copenhagen, and why the struggle for the environment must also be a struggle for socialism.
