I don't know what everyone's beef is with the Godfather III. I thought it was pretty damn good and I loved the first two. I loved the message in the movie that tells us that even the legitimate business world is corrupt and probably more so! There is little about the mob in the this film except for the small beef with Joey Zaza. The rest of the time Michael is fighting the political, business and religious world that is supposed to be clean of corruption.

Michael spent his whole life trying to get the Corleone family to be legitimate and he finds out the legitimate world is worse than the world of organized crime! Plus, I usually don't notice this in any movie but the costume design is superb. The clothes they wear in this movie must've been tailored by Ralph Lauren or something. The movie is much slower than the first two and less character driven so you're able to enjoy the scenery more. It's a beautiful film.

And the tying up the loose ends scene is the best in this film, hands down! The way it flows with the opera is superb.

I think it doesn't deserve its bad reputation. It seems that the main problem is with Sophia Coppola's amateurish performance; she replaced Winona Ryder when Ryder fell ill on location in Rome, and that seems to be what people hols against it. And it does have a memorable bit by the great Beat poet Gregory Corso ("He has the map of Sicily written on his face!" a line Corso improvised.)
