An email list has just been set up to discuss the events unfolding in Nepal from a revolutionary and internationalist perspective, and coordinate international solidarity work with the UCPN (M) and opposition to the imperialist attacks on the revolution.

Since this is a google groups email list, anyone can become a moderator and the person who set it up is not an all powerful admin forever, so it should be possible to run it quite effectively and democratically.

For anyone who hasn't been on an email list before, it works like this. Any emails sent to the group's address will be sent to the inbox of everybody subscribed. There's no requirement to participate, it's quite possible to just receive the emails, but if you stumble across a news article that interests you and want to get it out there being discussed asap, this is an easy way to do that.

I really think there's a lot of potential for an email list based around solidarity with the Maobadi. Many of us are in regular communication with a large number of people around the world about Nepal, on Kasama, on Revleft, on South Asia Rev and through private emails, and it makes sense to try and integrate all of this into one place where everyone can easily read and comment. Once this list gets more subscribers, it will be invaluable. As soon as people stumble across a news article they think is significant, they can forward it to this list, and know that it will instantly reach all the people they want it to, who can then easily read it, analyse it and reply with their thoughts. To some extent the Maoist Revolution list provides this, but it covers a much wider range of topics than just Nepal and I think a list with a more specific focus will allow for more productive use.

I also think this list, if it grows substantially, will be of invaluable assistance with organising resistance to any attacks on the revolution in Nepal. If enough people join, and I'm confident plenty will, we can lay the foundations for an international solidarity network to emerge in a much more organised form than currently exists. And as a decisive confrontation in Nepal fast approaches, the need for this is becoming greater every day.

The final thing I want to say is that while debates around the path of of the UCPN (M) are very valuable, the idea is not for this list to become consumed by endless debates around whether the Maoists are on a revisionist path. There's a time and place for that, but if it starts to dominate the list then the list will stop being useful.

So for anyone genuinely interested in supporting the revolutionary struggle of the oppressed people of Nepal, this list is for you. Please join.
