Please state your country of residence, and your occupation. Thanks.

Why is it necessary to state a country of residence and the current occupation?

Capitlasim in America and India are two different things. Occupation to judge success from a capitalist viewpoint.

In soviet russia, YOU wrong capitalism!
Actually, that was a lame attempt at a joke (http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Russian_reversal_%28joke%29).
IMO, it all began when girls like Hannah Montana started becoming millionaires. I felt betrayed.

Whiched helped kill off the AWESOME emulation scene that existed for Dreamcast.
I just got through making another CD-ROM with an Atari800/Atari5200 emulator on it, and some games.

This could have been a serious thread....
Nevertheless, I hate capitalism because it does not give you any other choice but to be a capitalist. Sometimes I feel like packing my bags and going to Cuba... but I can't do that because I have to look after my aging parents....

I'd say its the complete opposite - capitalism does not give you any other choice than to remain a non-capitalist (a worker).

Workers are capitalists in that they are part of the capitalist system. The self-feeding system if you like. Also, not all workers are these noble proletarians with leftists principles either....

But my point was exactly that because not all workers can become capitalists (only some get "lucky"), then it isn't fair. I mean, this is communism 101.

The conditions in which I was born into were not favorable towards me. Because I am a worker I have no dignity. I cry a lot.

I tried several times to make a joke based on that on this forum - I can never get it to work though. Maybe it just doesn't translate well in text.
Man, that comedian was probably the only guy on earth (outside the Stalinist bureaucracy) who saw the wall come down and thought... "Shit! My career!"

I'm unemployed and live in the UK, if that matters. Capitalism has wronged me personally very little; I've missed out on a decent education, I'm stuck in a moderately depressing set of living circumstances and my oppurtunities for fulfilling work are next to fuck all. I am not however homeless, I do not work in a sweatshop nor do I want for food, clothing or medicines. Others of my class are not so lucky, hell others of my species are not so lucky: this is why I oppose the market in all its forms, this is why I hate capitalism. My personal expereince means nothing when weighed against the experiences of the majority that suffer every day for capitalist/market/price systems.

It's called the ghetto, try living in Stockton, Oakland, San Jose, and Richmond California growing up in some of those parts and even if you were rich you could see how bad it is.

The issue is not how capitalism has wronged the individual, but how it constantly harms everyone in the world every day.
My family has suffered plenty from the irresponsible capitalists who are in charge of your work places and government. It isn't any of your business how we have suffered. Nor is it any of your business where I live or what I do.

Yo man why are you always being a drama queen in every thread? If its no one's business then simply dont post in the thread
Anyway, i do agree with your first sentence. It's why we all hate capitalism. But this thread is about how we are affected personally.

Because it is obnoxious and prying to ask people what the problems in their lives are. The original post has the tone of a troll who means to imply all leftists are privileged, and they mean to prove a point with it. It isn't a discussion and should be placed in chitchat. It would seem it was posted in OI for a reason.

That would be true for almost all of us typing on our computers--we have it better than the rest of the world.
That being said: Capitalism has worked well for me. It gave what it promised, a fufilling job and a good deal of money. I never set out to exploit anyone or be unfair to anyone and I don't believe I have ever done so by conventional standards. By Communist standards--it probably isn't the case. On the other hand I have been treated unfairly on many occasions by other Capitalists (after all it is a dog eat dog world out there.) I must say though, I've never thought much of it. I figured that's just the way the game's played. I took my licking and kept on ticking.

I am a student, who lives in Detroit, Michigan. Capitalism has wronged me by destroying the city that I live in (It seriously looks worse than some third world cities and towns) and driving thousands of families into the streets. Not only in Detroit, or America even, but throughout the entire world. Capitalism kills my fellow man, which in essence -is- me.

Funny how it was the corporations that was pushing for less regulation. ie, to keep the right to exploit further, to not spend money on stupid things like environmental protection, wages, benefits, etc.

Please state your country of residence, and your occupation. Thanks.
United States and I have multiple and ever changing occupations- although I don't see the relevance.
Capitalism has enabled organizations and institutions to gain profit in a harmful manner from just about every person on the planet with the motive to do it on a larger and sneakier scale the next time around. Always.
If you're not the gal or guy on the receiving end of sweatshop labor camps run my paramilitaries, environmental destruction in your immediate living area, the systematic removal of laws protecting you as a worker in the form of SAPs etc.. then you're the unlucky ones having no choice but to contribute to this horrible system by buying products that you need (clothes, food, etc..)
We have very little control as individuals from an ethical standpoint.
A best case scenario: A company with a horrible workers rights or environmental impact record randomly gives twenty thousand dollars to charity and then spends five hundred thousand dollars making it publicly known via commercials etc.. paid for by making internal budget cuts that almost always hurt the workers via staged firings based on fake performance issues, layoffs, etc..
Even the richest people buy from these companies or support these companies in other various ways without knowing what's really going on.
