Welcome to che-lives Tataw.
I agree with you somewhat. Religion or no religion, it doesn't make a difference, but our ideology can show us how to treat one another and to try and make the world better for the majority, religion can't do that like socialism can.

:che:I am Catholic and Communist. Nothing says you don't have to be non-religious to be Communist, it just says that you shouldnt force it on people or have them punished for different beleifs. I don't care if someone is an athiest or any other religion.:castro:

Marxism is based on materialism fundamentally, to believe in god and be a marxist is a contradiction. Belief in god is idealism.

There is nothing wrong with being religious and Communist as long as you dont try to force your religion on anyone and let the two come hand in hand. One more thing, no offence but not everyone is a Marxist. Though I have much respect for him and his works I am a Maoist. :marx:

Maoists are Marxists. You might need to know that if you're going to be one. They are Marxist-Leninist-Maoist. I'm something of a Maoist myself.
Communism and religion contradict each other. If you are a communist, you must be an atheist. To be a communist, you must be a materialist. Religion is idealism.
Read Lenin's "Socialism and Religion".

Ok, I'll read that. But do you nessisarily have to be an athiest, can you beleive in god ect. ect. yet not practice religion.

If you are a Marxist, that means materialism. Religion is the opposite of materialism. Therefore, you have to be an atheist. It comes with the territory.
Have you ever read Sartre? He is one of my favorite communist philosophers.

No, unfortanatly I live in a small town in the south so good material is hard to come by. Now on the subject of athiest, you cant beleive in god but not worship or anything like that. You have to be a athiest.

I am willing to give up religion in the name of Marxism. :marx:

I live in North Carolina! Rednecks everywhere. It sucks bad. Fortunately, there is a "rare and old" books shop near where I live. They've got some good stuff. Of Sartre, I'd recommend "Being and Nothingness" (which before I did not understand, but have read again, and loved!), and some of his fictional writings. He was a Stalinist. You can probably order it off some sort of book store on the internet.

I was there about 2 weeks ago. Not much difference than NC.
I beat up 2 redneck jesus freaks not long ago. They attacked me for drawing an anti-war, and anti-religious comic for art class. Dumbasses.

That artwork sounds cool, I do think that the war was fueled by oil yet it did do good by getting Saddam Hussein out. I think that there could have been more peaceful ways of getting him out of office but explain that to the major gas stations who like the oil.

Imperialism cannot be looked at in such ways. Imperialism is not ever good for the people. Yes, rid of Saddam? But a new puppet will emerge. This all goes back to the 1953 coup of Mossadegh in Iran. It's a pathetic example of the backlash of imperialist actions.

Koba, you may want to look through this thread...
http://www.che-lives.com/forum/index.php?a...6&t=6238&st=250 (http://www.che-lives.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=6238&st=250)
I just gave you the last 10 pages; it's 35 pages long and counting.
The subject of religion has provoked threads of enormous length on this board...in a way, it's kind of shocking how many people are reluctant to give up all that old crap.
Still, as they say, the struggle continues...

Shouldn't this be in theory? It would probably get more responses there, although we have already debated it recently in that thread you pointed out redstar2000
