China has reacted angrily to a US proposal to sell $6.4bn of arms to Taiwan. Should the deal go ahead?

I am inclined to say: Better that Taiwan don't use the weapons than that the United States is using them.

It should only be ok if other countries can arm small islands outside of the US.

No.
I realize the question is itself kind of absurd, much like most of the other questions posted by the BBC News "Have Your Say" section and re-posted by Newsbot.
The politics in Taiwan (formally called the Republic of China) seems to be divided between two camps. Anti-communist Chinese nationalists (Pan-Blue) and Taiwanese nationalists (Pan-Green). The Kuomintang actually claims more land than the PRC does.
As for the far-left, there's the Taiwan Communist Party (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_Communist_Party).

I really do not see the point in them arming themselves. No matter what they do, I see China quite easily taking power in the future.
