Remember someone on a documentary about atheism saying that he was, in response to Rob Liddle who was putting forward the atheist tyrant argument but I've not come across any evidence that Stalin was indeed a Confusionist. Also was wonderering what people's views are on Hitlers' spiritual beliefs, was he a pagan or a catholic?

Stalin was an avowed atheist. He had a religious education as a youth, but then fervently rejected it. However, during the later years of his rule the Soviet government relaxed restrictions on the Orthodox clergy and restored them and their religion to a place of honor in Soviet culture. Confucianism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confucianism) is a difficult term to define, since it is not really a religion, the term "Confucianism" is often used to refer to Neo-Confucianism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Confucianism) which is a synthesis of Confucian and Daoist philosophy and the Buddhist religion. Beliefs considered Neo-Confucian have been common among other peoples in Russian/Soviet territory such as Kalmyks and Korean-Russians for centuries, but East Asian religions have never been practiced by Russians or Georgians like Stalin in significant numbers.
