Comrades, I was assigned to read Plato's Republic for college and it is very interesting. I am still on the 1st part of book 1 where Socrates and Cephalus are talking about what is "just".

I would like to know what would be a good way to study this work of Plato's. Any note taking strategies, etc. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you very much comrades!

Typing "synopsis of plato's republic" into google returns 157,000 web pages. That should keep you busy for a couple hours.

Read "The Trial of Socrates" by I.F. Stone. It's a great left-wing take on Soc and his ilk.

Like most philosophical works its a good idea to read several synopses and interpretations alongside the original work. Your college library should have some of these, and there is loads of stuff online. Although for college work make sure these are academic works and not just opinion pieces...
