Who exactly was Che? From what I read he was a Marxist revolutionary and he's been all over but other than that who was he, what was his idealogy and what did he do?

Thanks.

Marxism-Leninism, although he didn't start the cuban revolution in a vanguard party, but through guerilla warfare.

You might want to check out the history subforum "Ernesto Che Guevara" (http://www.revleft.com/vb/ernesto-che-guevara-f13/index.html)

It may be added that he was a kind of modern "Don Quixote" (romantic) revolutionary in the sense that he agreed with the Latin American marxism of the Peruvian Mariátegui in that the "revolutionary consciousness" may overcome the backwardly economy in our countries.

I wouldnt call him a m-l really, not even himself at his last labelled himself anything like that.I would make you a good suggestion for reading a book on che, from pako ignasio taibo II (the spelling might be wrong, i have the name in front me, but in greek) called Ernesto Guevara also known as CHE. Its a quit big book, but if you want a subjective and historical book, but also one that gives you almost any information you want on che, thats your book.Helped me a lot, and was one of the first political books i have read.

Thanks, you've kinda cleared him up or me.
Fuserg9, I did have a look for that book but the only copies of it I could find of were in Spanish (which although I can speak a little of it, I can't read it quite well enough for a whole book) or were quite expensive. Do you know where I could get a cheap copy in English? Otherwise Ill put it on my list of books I'm saving up for, or I might trust my Spanish and buy it in it.

I dont know sadly, i dont read books in english tbh, so i havent searched ever, nor have found an english book site, try some e-books, they are for free. But some members could direct you there, try searching e-books around here, or political e-books in google etc to see if you can find it.
