Strange, I was going to make a similar thread.
So I agree.

I don't think I have any possessions that a bailiff would find worth taking. Not that I'm willing to put that to the test, however...

Oh, believe me, unless you were homeless they'd find something worth taking... ...they can hound you for a portion of your wages every week if your working and they can hound you for a portion of you benefits if you're not. If you ever were in a situation where they pursued you for a debt and were determined, they would take all that you had up to and including the clothes on your back. They dont care if anything carries sentimental value, either.
They really are that sort of scum. At least with cops, (not that i'm apologising for them) they provide a sliver of service for everyone if you lose a valuable in the street. The sole purpose of bailiffs is the protection of capital and bourgeoisie privilege.

It's things like that which make me sorely tempted to "take the law into my own hands" so to speak.

So, they're mercs. Yeuch.

unfortunately bailiffs have the law on their side. All too often they also have a police warrant giving them legal immunity to force their way into your house without your consent.

Kind of, but with a balding head, a suit and a filofax.
Basically a capitalist and a thug in one disgusting package.

If Emilio Estevez was a bailiff i wouldnt be nearly so intimidated.
I could push him back with one hand, the little short-arse.
Beside repo-men are different from bailiffs, bailiffs work within bourgeoisie law, repo-men are like underworld loan sharks.
Which makes bailiffs worse imo because they have the pigs on their side.

I'll never understand the anarchist obsession with the executive branch. They didn't write the laws.

You'll understand when one of them breaks into your house when you're not there and leaves a note saying "I will sell your tv, your coach, your lamp, your table and your videoplayer, at this location and this date, unless you pay me"

Even if they'll be intelligent and caring guys you'd like if you ever met socially?
if a bailiff doesn't work, the thing you described will most probably happen to him and for a bailiff's grand general strike there's always a reserve army of labour.

Bailiffs here are required to prove that you own the possessions they seize. So basically, your grandmother owns everything.

I have fuckers from England chasing me. Just shows how far the bastards are willing to go.
Which is a shame because local bailiffs here were done away with due to the troubles.

What the fuck is this shit. There are intelligent, caring coppers. Pol Pot was probably nice to his best friend and I'm sure Dick Cheney would make a simply fabulous dinner party guest. The point isn't whether they're nice or nasty individuals, they point is that the roles they play massively fuck our lives up.

Shit! You alright? Seems like it's been a bad week for a lot of people.

It's more because nobody has been bothered to paid the bills since July 2009 rather than anything serious.

They are bastard coated bastards, fuck them hate them.
Anyway, the best thing to do is throw your television out the window at them, someone I know did that to these tv licensing ones "YOU CAN HAVE MY TELEVISION YOU ****S" so yeah, do that.
Or you can (lawfully) a) shut all the windows so the sneaky fucks can't climb in b) just not open the door until they get a court order to do so, they have to come along with some cops and notify you a few days time in advance about this c) simply say to them if you do answer by accident, that you donknow nooooooooooooooooothing (:D) and d) basically just lead them up the garden path to distraction.
You will incur small charges throughout, possibly, so beware of that. Usually, it's best to go higher up and get some manager to help you out to stop them from coming along, it's not fun but it's the only way, bailiffs are basically subhuman scum most of the time with not a braincell to rub together.
