A Michigan defense contractor will voluntarily stop stamping references to Bible verses on combat rifle sights made for the U.S. military, a major buyer of the company's gear. In a statement released Thursday, Trijicon of Wixom, Mich., says it is also providing to the armed forces free of charge modification kits to remove the Scripture citations from the telescoping sights already in use. Through multimillion dollar contracts, the Marine Corps and Army have more than 300,000 Trijicon sights.
The references to Bible passages raised concerns that the citations break a government rule that bars proselytizing by American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, which are predominantly Muslim countries.

Some of these rifle sights were apparently given to indigenous police and military forces by the occupiers. at least its going to come to an end in this case.

Any other examples of proselytizing/propaganda by occupying forces in the middle east would probably be suited for this thread.

I think of it as less of propaganda (of imperialism per se) and more of a symptom of the lunacy that goes on in the military-industrial complex. After this talk of religious guns sights I remember reading an article about religious nut-jobs in the military and how they see themselves as crusaders and what-not, also of organizations that focus on proselytizing on and through the military.

You know, I can't understand a lot of shit that goes on in the Religious Right, but I truly, most surely cannot understand the mentality that would go into putting a Bible verse on a gun.

also,

To that end, Mr. Prince intentionally deployed to Iraq certain men who shared his vision of Christian supremacy, knowing and wanting these men to take every available opportunity to murder Iraqis. Many of these men used call signs based on the Knights of the Templar, the warriors who fought the Crusades.

It would be funny if they had put one of the Ten Commandments on there. "Thou Shalt Not Kill". Oh the irony.

I'm gonna buy an AK and write the entire text of the Communist Manifesto on it.
