I don't know whether to put this in the literature section or learning.
I just had a question as to where you find your literature (regardless of what kind) and besides the many online resources like marxist.org and the lucy parsons project, you all have to buy some books.

for me i try to support as many local or leftists radical bookstores as I can, but sometimes I can find books really cheap online like at Abebooks and other sites, so I buy them there.

Does anyone have any specific sites they like? that's like geared mainly towards revolutionary/leftist materials?

My main gripes with buying online are A) i feel someone somewhere is keeping track of all this crap and it can potentially lead to some or more government surveillance B) I know some guy is merely making money off this sale who might not support the cause E.G amazon C) sometimes the books take FOREVER, and end up being in such bad shape it wasn't even worth it.

so, any thoughts?
oh and also anyone know where i can find Gramscis prison notebooks online? and possibly in a printable format? I may have access to a free printer soon where I can print it all out :)

Some parties and organizations sell political literature. Try searching for leftist organizations and their web pages. Also the ones that you don't agree with.

Where do you get your theory from, then?

Try finding literature online for free instead, or perhaps look for a charity booksale (they usually have lots of cheap books).

If staring at a screen for hours on end works for you, fair enough. It doesn't for me.

I pick up a lot of stuff on the cheap at library used book sales. Other than that, I often buy them used from Amazon marketplace of abebooks. When I'm feeling frivolous I'll just buy a new copy from amazon, since they nearly always have the lowest prices for new books.

Yeah, I cannot stare at the computer on end that long, and I enjoy writing notes on the margins and so forth of what i find riveting or interesting.but if i do find a good copy of something online and cannot buy it i usually get into a place where i can print it for free.:)Thanks for the links and ideas, i actually found a local library thats having a sale this saturday, just after one google search!

Try it sometime. For a while, your eyes do start to burn (now and then after a few hours of staring). But my eyes are desensitized by now.

addall.com is a useful site; type in the details of whatever book you're after and it automatically searches about 40 or so different sites like abebooks, the various incarnations of amazon and others, then compares the cheapest prices from each, including shipping, in your own currency.

i don't purchase books very often any more. only if i find a really good one that i think i'll read or refer to often. instead, the internet, and libraries. perhaps not your local public library, but definetly any good university library, will have at least a few books on radical and revolutionary ideas. certainly marxism, probably anarchism. you don't even have to be a student tojust wander in and read the books eiher.
