YES! I am a gun loving commie. I have a 20 Gauge shotgun, .22 magnum, a Semi Auto Hi-Point 9mm Carbine, and I will be getting either a semi auto AKS-74U or a semi auto AK-47!:D

I like shooting guns though I'm not that good of a shot. I don't own any at the moment, but use them quite often. I'm thinking of getting a shotgun soon, some 20ish gauge pump action. 12 gauge is too big for the rapid firing I want, but I'm worried 20 may be too small but I think it'll do.

i enjoy firearms but i rarely get to shoot. its been years since i have shot one.
i do want to by an airsoft gun and get back into the more "hardcore" type of airsoft with the upper end guns and going to games set up in my region.

I'm really looking into getting a precision rifle and long range shooting once I have the money to purchase the necessary components.
Same here, but guns seem surprisingly cheap to me, it's just the ammo that can get expensive. A good rifle (AKs, M4s) can run you anywhere from $500 to $1,000. I might be wrong on this though, I'm not exactly an enthusiast yet lol.

Where in the heck would i get an AK47 from? i sure do want one. I always thought that they can only be bought on the black market :p i dont know much about guns. But anyway, i sure do love shootin em! My uncle has a scoped .22 bolt action rifle (i dunno the name of it), of which im a good shot with. Ive also shot a 12 gauge shotgun, 9mm pistols and a .50 cal magnum. Those .50 cals are pretty insane to shoot with all the recoil

Of course, you need a gun license, and I'm not well-versed in all the laws about interstate travel of guns and purchasing them across state lines and the like. Look into it, though - you can buy AKs legally as long as they aren't military-grade I believe (which amounts to differences in stuff like magazine size)

I knew nobody would get the joke. It's a stupid trolling method on 4chan's weapons board (i.e adopt the persona of a CoD4 kiddie and talk about how great the 'deagle' and the AK-47 are).

AK's and M4's aren't precision rifles. Precision rifles (known as "sniper rifles" to common folk) are much more expensive and can run in the tens of thousands of dollars or more.
I was agreeing with the "once I get the money" part, I guess I shouldn't have quoted the beginning . Personally, at some point I'd start working with snipes, but I'm more interested in ARs.

Genuinely Leftist politics involves guns at some point, so I don't really reject them. I just don't have much of an interest in them as a hobby. Guns to me are just a tool. Though, I will say it's fun to shoot cans or clay pigeons.

FWIW I enjoy building and refurbishing military pattern rifles. I don't really like shooting them though. I don't really like shooting much at all anymore. I wouldn't call myself a gun nut, and I hate the fuck out of the NRA. If Obama were to outlaw all assault rifles tomorrow I'd show up with all my shit in a wheelbarrow for ATF trade ins.
I also like working on cars, sw radios, and computers. Semi auto rifles are just plain neat from a mechanical standpoint. To get all those little parts to work in time is a helluva challenge. To get them to work consistently requires real skill...
Sheesh, my second post on Revleft is in the gun fetishist thread. I hope I'm not starting off on the wrong foot

Ok. I live in Appalachia. After the Brady law and other such legislation, it's not exactly easy to get hold of a gun here. There's a lot of paperwork involved, and the FBI has to check you out. Not all of the stereotypes of the US are true.
Now Texas might be a different story.

The USA has very different and unique historical as well as material semantics so its hard to draw a comparsion. This country among many others are also infested with fundies and right wing knuckleheads so i dont get the connection.
My point is, compared to the US, even taking into account the Northern Ireland conflict, we have very little gun violence. I think that is in no small part thanks to the fact that guns are extremely difficult to get hold of here.

I don't really like guns, kinda freak me out, but I am considering getting one soon, mostly because these right wing nuts have started to scare me, especially with their guns in public shit.
When I was a kid I got in some moderately deep shit and ended up around a lot of illegal weapons, caught myself before I went any deeper into shit, but that is another thing that gets me wanting to keep away from them

Switzerland also has a lot of gun violence apparently. Guns are pretty well ingrained in their culture and are easy to get a hold of. Soldiers over there keep their guns and an emergency package of ammunition with them at home IIRC.
I thought the Cuban population was armed, how's gun violence over there?

It's a pretty poor weapon for actual combat from what I've heard (go and see people firing them on YouTube and you can get an idea of how easy it is to use). It does get irritating to see it as the best weapon in alot of vidya games.

Guns scare me. They shoot projectiles at like 2000 m/s and make a mess of people. They're loud and can cause permanent hearing damage.
But I think it'd be pretty awesome to own one of these:

its a glock 17 with a silencer and an under-barrel laser pointer
And a shotgun would probalby be the best investment because shotguns provide an excellent source of home protection if that is what anyone is worried about.

I was just being facetious (as were you, I assume). There's not much to "protect" myself from around these parts, so gun ownership would be pretty much pointless.
I really like shotguns though. They're so badass.
Funny that you mention the airsoft thing... my friend actually did that once. We were walking around at night and a bunch of punks (not the music aficionados) heckled us for "being fags" since two guys obviously can't walk together without being gay. Anyways, I didn't know he was packing his airsoft Beretta, but he lifted his shirt and revealed the airsoft tucked into his waistband. The punks were like "Oh SHIT" and ran off.
A pretty stupid move, but seeing as how no one really owns guns here I guess statistically it was not dangerous.
